For the last few decades, it has been described that flies don’t have a BH3-only protein that activates caspase. We found it and named it “sayonara”. Our PhD student Yuko pioneered this research.

@MahjoubLab The solution that I prefer (and use at home - 40TB of data!) is to either build or purchase a NAS (Network Attached Storage) which you can then progressively upgrade with larger and larger hard drives as time goes on. Large up-front cost, but fast transfer speeds and redundancy!
