PROBLEM LIES IN IMPLEMENTATION AND ABUSE OF POWER, NOT IN SIR ITSELF:
The facts presented about the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) in Social Media are largely inaccurate or misleading in the context of the official meaning and purpose of SIR conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
SIR is a comprehensive, door-to-door verification and update of electoral rolls undertaken by the ECI to ensure accurate, inclusive, and error-free voter lists. Its legal basis lies in Article 324 of the Constitution and Section 21(3) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. The main objectives of SIR are to remove duplicate, deceased, and ineligible voters, include eligible citizens who may have been omitted, and strengthen democratic legitimacy by maintaining a clean and trustworthy electoral roll. This process is not designed to harm political parties or restrict democracy but aims to strengthen the electoral process by ensuring "one person, one vote" and preventing electoral malpractices such as multiple registrations or ghost voters. SIR does not limit democracy to a few parties or restrict voters' rights but rather ensures that every eligible voter is accurately registered and able to participate fairly in elections. Also, the responsibility for voter participation remains constitutionally with the Election Commission and citizens alike, not transferred solely to individuals. The process actually supports democratic inclusion by updating rolls to reflect demographic changes and including marginalized groups. Therefore, claims that SIR harms small parties, ends electoral choices, limits democracy to two or three parties, or removes the constitutional responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure electoral participation are incorrect. SIR is a technical and legal effort to enhance electoral integrity and inclusiveness, not a conspiracy to curb democratic rights or participation.
In summary:
SIR is a legal, constitutionally authorized exercise to update and clean electoral rolls.Its goal is to include all eligible voters and remove ineligible or duplicate entries. It enhances transparency, fairness, and trust in elections. It does not restrict democracy or voter rights but strengthens them. It does not transfer electoral participation responsibility solely to voter.
Thus the problem lies when manipulations and misuse of powers or abuse of powers are committed in the garb of SIR. I can assure one thing in this case there is much more beneath the surface. When a Unit does not accept an officer, it reflects a serious and undeniable disgrace. Even if that officer refuses to attend ceremonial parades, our men will still follow lawful orders.

Unit customs and traditions are the backbone of the Armed Forces, and the Commanding Officer is duty-bound to uphold them without compromise. The delinquent officer has clearly violated the Chetwode Credo.

“The Safety, Honour and Welfare of your men” here, ‘honour’ directly relates to these parades, customs and time-honoured practices which bind a unit together.

There is absolutely nothing wrong here..

I call them cowardly because not a single written order, speaking order on illtreating against customs and ethics issued, or action forwarding her complaint to the ICC has ever been issued. When everything is done verbally and off the record, it is intentional meant to cause stress, humiliation, and psychological torture.
Every piece of evidence of ill-treatment lies on the tables of the GOCs across @westerncomd_IA
Yet there is silence.
Where is the safety, honour, and welfare of a woman officer in this Command?
Not a single action on her formal complaints, not a single response on the misconduct she reported. All policies, all regulations, all established laws : ignored with impunity.
For two years, both of us have been denied an interview. What is the fear?
Who is responsible for destroying her mental peace and worsening her condition?
Why are criminals in uniform being protected? @BJP4India @narendramodi @rajnathsingh or anyone wants to take revenge, then they can target me as a man.
Why inflict cruelty on my wife and child?
The truth is simple:
The only officer responsible for this suffering is Lt Gen Manoj Katiyar.
He may be a “big man,” surrounded by YESMEN, abusing power, believing he is invincible.
He may succeed in making her life and our child’s life miserable through institutional harassment.
But he will never break our resolve.
He will never kill our spirit for justice.
These words will stand as a reminder of the inhuman acts committed against her acts done solely to shield Lt Gen S. P. Singh and others involved.
The truth will come out. Justice will come. And no rank can stop it.
