Delighted to be co-ordinating the 12th @InterClimate Reading Schools' Climate Conference. Great turn out with 66 students from 10 local secondaries attending.
Sixty-five students from 10 local schools are taking part in a mock COP30 climate summit in #rdguk today.
The 12th Reading Schools’ Climate Conference is taking place in the Council Chamber in the Civic Centre as world leaders are gathered at the United Nations summit in Belem, Brazil.
Pupils will discuss key climate themes in a debate mirroring the COP30 negotiations and agree resolutions this morning.

One of the last things the Tories did before being booted out of power was to put young trans people’s lives at risk.

🚨 THE NEW CABINET 🚨
The Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, has appointed his cabinet.
This new cabinet marks a historic moment in British politics, with a record number of state-educated Ministers and the lowest proportion of privately educated Ministers since 1945 🧵👇
I feel a huge amount of grief this morning. Grief for lost futures, lost people, ruined things and for all the ways that the last 14 years made life for people harder, rougher, more dangerous, smaller, shorter. I suppose grief isn't a very political emotion, but that's where I am
Phrases that mean nothing will happen:
Leave it with me
I’ll have a word
I’ll see what I can find
I’ll see what I can do
Consider it done!
I’ll make some calls
I’ll think about it
Certainly a possibility
Let’s come back to that
Good idea
I’ll let you know!
We’ll see
I’ll check it out
Noted
Maybe
I’ll get back to you on that
Could do, could do…
I’ll take that on board
Let’s park that for now
It’s on my list
I’ll definitely keep it in mind
Watch this space!
Hold that thought
I’m doing it as we speak
Might see you down there
Text me the details
I’ll look into it
How did we sink so low on helping desperate children in this country? @annelongfield: “Trying to kill yourself is not enough to get mental health support. They ask: ‘Did the child really intend to end their life or not?’
Could things be worse? https://t.co/vj3oOPihJ9
The idea of huge camhs waiting lists is well known - but increasingly suicidal children aren’t even making it onto a waiting list as services so over-stretched. “How can we claim to be a civilised country and be letting children down so badly?” https://t.co/vj3oOPihJ9
UK data shows that LGBTQ+ people experience worse health outcomes.
Being assured we won’t be judged for being LGBTQ removes barriers to diagnosis, treatment and care.
A #RainbowLanyard isn’t woke frippery, it’s a useful tool for improving public health.
It’s common-sense.
the water industry has paid out more than £72bn in dividends while running up £60bn of debts since it was privatised by Margaret Thatcher with zero debts

We celebrate trans people & are determined to end discrimination they face.
Let's come together to fight for human rights & reject toxic narratives spread by some in power who choose to scapegoat trans people rather than address real issues most of us face. #TransDayOfVisibility
Today is #TransDayofVisibility! 🏳️⚧️
With hate against trans people on the rise, it can be hard to find space to celebrate the joys of visibility.
This #TDOV, we're reflecting on the value of visibility and how it can transform the lives of our loved ones 👇
