Fungi that cause ear rots can continue to grow, spread, and produce mycotoxins after corn reaches maturity and during storage if grain is not dry.

@BrianWillott Yes, and prevalent. The larger issue is bringing a non-native strain in. That still could pose risks to our existing populations. Testing non-native strains are ok because it advances research, but everyone must go through the channels to do it safely and properly (USDA-APHIS).
