For twelve years, I raised my husband’s daughter as if she were my own.
I paid her school fees, sat beside her hospital bed, defended her when relatives insulted her, and stayed awake until she came home safely.
Then, on my 40th birthday, she stood in front of our entire family and said:
“I have one birthday wish. I want this woman out of my father’s house.”
Everyone went silent.
I looked at my husband, expecting him to defend me.
Instead, he lowered his head.
His daughter continued.
Ella Langley cancelled her concert just HOURS before showtime because she refused to gamble with her fans’ safety. And honestly, I respect that decision.
The country singer was scheduled to perform at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on October 9 when the show was abruptly cancelled over what her team described as a “serious security threat.”
Imagine spending money on tickets, travelling, making plans and counting down to a concert, only to receive that announcement a couple of hours before the show.
I can understand how disappointing that must have been for the fans.
But what makes this situation more serious is what happened behind the scenes.…🧵
Be mindful of the people you allow into your inner circle.
Not everyone who claps for you wants to see you win. Some people will listen to your plans, watch you struggle and smile in your face while secretly hoping you never make it.
Choose people who pray for your growth not people who secretly compete with you.
🚨DEe Zerbi on what he told Manchester United manger Michael Carrick at full-time.
🎙️REPORTER: Roberto De Zerbi what did you tell Michael Carrick after the game. What happened?
🗣️DE ZERBI: I walked up to Carrick and told him something he probably didn’t want to hear. I said, “Your team is embarrassing! You played like a team with no identity, and somehow you still think you deserved to win. We dominated you throughout the game, but Manchester United always seem to find a way to escape.”
🎙️REPORTER: Are you suggesting Manchester United benefited from the referee’s decisions?
🗣️DE ZERBI: Absolutely! When other teams get those decisions, everybody starts complaining. But when it’s Manchester United, suddenly nobody wants to talk about the referee. I’m tired of this hypocrisy. You cannot play badly for 90 minutes and then act like you’re the best team in England.
🎙️REPORTER: How did Carrick respond?
🗣️DE ZERBI: He wasn’t happy, of course. But what was I supposed to do? Congratulate him for a performance like that? I told him, “If you want respect, earn it on the pitch. Stop relying on favourable decisions and start playing football!”
🎙️REPORTER: Do you think Manchester United are overrated?
🗣️DE ZERBI: Their history is legendary, but history doesn’t win today’s matches. Some of their supporters talk as if they’re still watching the Manchester United of 2008. Wake up! This is a different team, and dominating them should not be treated like climbing Mount Everest.
🎙️REPORTER: Any final message for United fans?
🗣️DE ZERBI: They can insult me all they want. But before they come for me, they should watch the game again and ask themselves one question: if Manchester United are so good, why do they need so many excuses when things don’t go their way?
My husband demanded $250,000 from me during our divorce. When the judge asked him one simple question, his own lawyer stopped taking notes.
Judge: “Mr. Carter, why are you requesting $250,000 from your wife?”
Husband: “I supported her throughout our marriage. I sacrificed my career for her.”
Me: “Your Honor, I paid our mortgage, his car payments, and most of our household expenses.”
Husband: “She earns more than I do!”
Judge: “That may be relevant, but it doesn't automatically establish what either party is entitled to receive.”
Husband: “I deserve compensation for everything I gave up.”
The judge examined a document.
Judge: “You stated under oath that you were unemployed for four years?”
Husband: “Yes, Your Honor.”
Judge: “Then explain these salary deposits into your personal account during those same four years.”
My husband froze.
Me: “What salary deposits?”
Judge: “There are regular payments from a company registered under your name.”
His lawyer leaned over and whispered something to him.
My husband told me he wanted a DNA test for our 3-year-old son, and I laughed because I knew I had never cheated on him.
But then he said something that made me stop laughing.
He said, “I know you didn’t cheat on me. I’m questioning something else.”
I asked him what he meant.
He told me that the night our son was born, his mother pulled him aside at the hospital and told him something about the baby.
For three years, he kept it to himself.
I started crying and begged him to tell me what his mother had said.
He looked me straight in the eyes and said:
“My mother told me this baby cannot be mine because she knows what happened that night.”
I asked him how his mother could possibly know anything about what happened in the delivery room.
He said:
“Because she was there before you gave birth.”
I went completely silent.
The problem is, my mother-in-law wasn’t even in the country when I delivered our son. 💀
My mother called me selfish for refusing to send her $3,000. Two days later, I discovered what she had told the rest of the family about me.
Mom: “Your younger brother needs $3,000 for his business. Transfer it today.”
Me: “Mom, I have my own bills. I can only afford $500 this month.”
Mom: “So you have money for yourself but not your own family?”
Me: “I've paid his rent twice, covered his school fees, and bought him a car.”
Mom: “Everything you've done is nothing compared to what I did raising you.”
Me: “I'm not denying that. I'm saying I can't afford $3,000.”
She hung up.
The next day, my aunt called.
Aunt: “How could you abandon your mother when she needs you?”
Me: “What are you talking about?”
Aunt: “She said you promised to pay her $15,000 for surgery and then refused.”
I immediately called my mother.
Me: “Mom, what surgery costs $15,000?”
Mom: “Why are you interrogating me?”
Me: “Because Aunt Linda said I promised to pay for it.”
Mom: “I knew you would embarrass me.”
Me: “Then tell me the hospital's name. I'll pay the hospital directly.”
Throwback to the bagel shop owner being dumb
The backstory is that the large immersion blender broke, so one of the owners had the bright idea to save time by cracking and blending the eggs for the egg patties in one step! "Just filter it through a Shinwa"
