PR is an essential part in any brand or company's reputation and success. Can companies ethically deal with bad PR? Should they come clean, or try to cover it up? #UWJ201 #306
@ainsleyskomal In order for companies to combat the bad press they need to either re-frame the negative press, or put out good press to try and cover up the bad. There is no guarantee these will hide the negative press though. #UWJ201 #306
@sofdlv Apps like TikTok make it easier than every to persuade people the a celebrity that they like actually likes a product, it seems more personal and as if it was their decision to promote it. Unlike ads on TV which seems disconnected from reality. #UWJ201
As we are advertised to everyday, how important is it to know the goals of the advertiser and routes they are taking to try and manipulate/persuade us to buy their product? Does it matter at all? Could understanding motives help us choose products best suited for us? #UWJ201
When we see young people like Mark Zuckerberg, who built their wealth/fame in a very short time, should there be any help for people like this to make sure they don't get power hungry or go off the beaten path? Or should we just praise him for building a brand so fast? #UWJ201
@MadisonTargum I don't think it expands the type of news we read, however i think it does lead to more partial information being spread since most people just read the headline when scrolling through social media and might talk about the headline with others #UWJ201 #306
@letscher2002 Newspapers are becoming more and more obsolete not only do to the defending of papers due to lack of funds but also the lack of accessibility around the country
Will the downtick in TV news usage impact the next generations political views and participation? Ifso how? What kind of impact will it have on our polorization in the US? #UWJ201
@haileyystiles Advocacy probably lends the most polarization. As we saw, the interests of the news publication drastically impact what, and how they cover hot button issues and therefore supply their readers with their polarized way of thinking. #UWJ201
@willjen45816414 Given the political climate of the world, I think we have room to be less polarized. However, I do not think that getting rid of national columns would decrease public discourse, therefore it wouldn't impact democratic progress. Opinion columns allow for a more human side of news
With a big part of journalism being trying to get the most attention and reach the most people, how do you think the need for clickable content gets in the way of information? Or does it not? #UWJ201 #306
While The Onion is a satirical paper, it does lead some people to beleive the fake articles despite being absurb. If one of journalists' jobs is to inform, should they interupt when people are using Onion articles to spread conspiracies and false information? #UWJ201
@elizabeth12687 I think this is definitely a possibility if the person was open to it, however I feel that people who are truly indifferent on a topic won't choose a side. They would just gain more info on the topic. But I don't think most people are truly indifferent about anything
If the spiral of silence is fed by the general feeling that they are in the minority of opinion, what is the tipping point in which one no longer feels this way? Can connecting with others with same opinion online help in breaking out of the spiral? #UWJ201
Since the spiral of silence theory is afffected by peoples personality as well as the general publics actions and attitudes, is there a way we could teach people how to avoid being stuck in this situation? Should we bother? #UWJ201
With the magical thinking concept, does religion play a role into this way of thinking? Since religious folk are taught to believe on faith and not fact does this cause them to trust mis/dis information more easily? #306 #UWJ201
