It is with great sorrow and deep concern that we express our unequivocal condemnation of the recent tragic incident where armed Kuki militants abducted, tortured, and then killed four innocent Meitie villagers, including a father and a son, who were engaged in the peaceful activity of cutting and collecting firewood for daily usage.

The loss of precious lives in such a manner is a stark reminder of the vulnerability faced by the Meitie community living in the peripheral area of the Kuki-dominated region. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this senseless act of violence.

We call upon the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into this heinous crime, bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Additionally, we urge increased efforts to ensure the safety and security of the Meitie community living in the foothills and its peripheral area as they go about their daily lives.

An unruly crowd tried to attack the house of a political leader, the joint security forces repelled the crowd by firing tear gas shells. The unruly crowd targeted a police gypsy and burnt it, while assaulting a policeman and snatched his weapon. Manipur Police condemns such action and will take stern steps to deal with such miscreants. Combing operations are being carried out for recovery of arms and catching miscreants.
