This is a brilliant app - Merlin Bird ID @MerlinBirdID
It’s free, and identifies birds by their call. Here is the beautiful soundscape I woke up to this morning, including the song of a rare blackcap.

@NaseemRakha If you are using Sound ID, you should note that North Africa is not fully supported yet. There should be a message in the all to the effect.

Check your email, it usually takes a few minutes for confirmation email to arrive.
@RossSheingold Sounds like a House Sparrow more likely. You’ll note that when you set the location, it filters out birds that don’t occur in your area (like woodcreepers)

Top 5 things to learn more about the natural world around you and help wildlife and habitat in your yard:
1) Get @seekbyinat and learn your native and exotic plants and animals around you.
2) Use @MerlinBirdID to learn what birds are calling around you.
3) Let some native “weeds” grow up, identify them with the Seek app and if they’re native, let some of them go to flower. Many of them will attract all sorts of pollinators. Like this Devil’s walking stick 👇
4) Follow the label on any pesticides and herbicides you use. If they wash into waterways, some of them can kill a lot of aquatic organisms.
5) Make sure you use results from a soil test to apply fertilizers. https://t.co/nVZWSF8ybP
@SUMMA_ Hi @SUMMA_ and thanks for using Merlin! Sound ID doesn’t get support that species, we are still early in our rollout.
If you use @Team_eBird , consider uploading your recordings! We only have 2 recordings of Javan Kingfisher and will need at least 100 to add it to Sound ID.
