My main takeaway from this review is that the importance of glycogen is really understood via the related diseases: Lafora disease and Pompe disease. One deals with the introduction of phosphate into glycogen and the other lysosomal disposal of glycogen. #hunterbiochemistry
My #lightbulbmoment is finally remembering the difference between DNA polymerase and RNA polymerase. For some reason in my basic biology & genetics classes, I always forgot the difference. DNA polymerase = DNA synthesis; RNA polymerase = RNA synthesis. #hunterbiochemistry

My favorite enzyme is the Cas9 enzyme. It's application is in gene editing with the CRISPR-Cas9 technique. Like our course material explains, co-factors help with Cas9's DNA cleavage; for the Cas9 enzyme, magnesium and manganese are two known co-factors. #hunterbiochemistry
