@myonlinetrust@ovinophile@PhDPersuasion@waitbutwhy True, but what if everyone is invisible? Would you still choose the elevator? I will readily admit that adding children to the equation changes things, but that’s why society treats children differently from adults.
@PhDPersuasion@waitbutwhy Think of it this way: There's an escalator and an elevator. If less than 50% of the people get in the elevator, it falls and kills them. Using the escalator guarantees safe travel to the top. Why on earth would anyone choose the elevator? It sounds insane now, right??

Have you read Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, from back when Cory Doctorow wasn’t insane? I think he was onto something with adhocracies and Whuffie. Humans are inherently status-obsessed and need some kind of purpose, so in a post-scarcity society, they form purpose-driven groups and rank themselves. Some may find that dystopian, but it sure beats violence and starvation.
After spending a year immersed in the community, I agree that many peptides are either snake oil or only marginally useful. However, this post is just trolling, and I think you know it. Some peptides, like melanotan and tesa, obviously have effects. Some don’t. Why are you generalizing so much? Really does feel like gatekeeping…
@Noahpinion Interesting way to frame “AI people think they’re building something that will transcend the human race.” Sorry you got spooked about biological terrorism, but please don’t propaganda me…
@Noahpinion I embraced this almost 30 years ago when I started reading Kurzweil... so yeah, maybe I'm a little eager (and a little frightened, sure) now that it's finally happening
@eigenrobot It didn’t contribute to the GDP, but I vibecoded Turdle (a dirty version of Wordle) for my friends and I think it was well worth my $20 subs 🤷♂️ https://t.co/wumhiwkCCe
@xwanyex When someone says that, it shows that they believe they know what is in everyone else's best interests. Run from that person, they want control over your life.
I believe the problem is the internet + the innate human desire to feel high-status. It wasn't a big deal when, in a small community, you felt like a handful of people were significantly higher status than you. But when you see thousands of people existing at a status you can't possibly achieve, you simply give up and lose all purpose. The answer, IMO, is to have children (which, in addition to the obvious purpose it brings, makes you high-status in your own home) and maintain a solid in-person friend/family group, all while doing your best to ignore the rest of the population.
