Check out our new pre-print! Using human genetics we identified SLC45A4 as a new pain gene that encodes a neuronal polyamine transporter, which has a really cool structure, and can regulate nociceptor activity!
Massive collaboration! Thanks to all!
We spoke to Professor Simon Newstead (@inwardopen) from the @UniofOxford about how his research could lead to new medications to treat pain with reduced side effects.

Farah et al. show that disruption of LGI1 leads to increased pain sensitivity. Mice lacking LGI1 display neuronal hyperexcitability, including enhanced wind-up of spinal neurons, and mechanical hypersensitivity after nerve injury. https://t.co/i2wG4yWcjD
Proud to post our study showing that TENM4 is an essential transduction component for touch and pain. Important and groundbreaking led by Mohammed @khallaf13 with help from many like Angela Huang, Letizia Dalmasso and Sam @fluorescence_SC
