General approach on the Critical Medicines Act!
Thanks to @eu2025dk and all Member States for recognising the importance of swift action to secure pharma supply across the EU. The compromise preserves all key elements of our proposal, which is very encouraging.
I was glad to attend the signing of the Declaration of Intent on multilateral medicines procurement by Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
The very purpose of the Critical Medicines Act will be to support such initiatives and make access a reality everywhere.

I have decided to convene a special European Council on 6 March.
We are living a defining moment for Ukraine and European security.
In my consultations with European leaders, I’ve heard a shared commitment to meet those challenges at EU level: strengthening European Defence and contributing decisively to peace on our continent and long-term security of Ukraine.
I will continue to work together with @vonderleyen and all Member States to be ready to take decisions on 6 March.

Important COREPER II meeting today, as Permanent Representatives reached preliminary agreement on the draft Council Decision to lift internal land border checks with 🇷🇴Romania and 🇧🇬Bulgaria as of 1 January 2025. Formal adoption on JHA Council agenda on 12 December.
Proud and grateful to be part of the new Von der Leyen Commission.
During this new Commission mandate I will lead our work on biotechnologies and the Critical Medicines Act.
We have a lot of work ahead of us in the area of Health and Animal Welfare.

The Emergency Committee for #mpox met today and advised me that the upsurge of mpox continues to constitute a public health emergency of international concern — I have accepted that advice.
My decision is based on the rising number and continuing geographic spread of cases, operational challenges in the field, and the need to mount and sustain a cohesive response across countries and partners.
I call on the affected countries to scale up their responses and for solidarity from the international community to help us end the outbreaks.
