@xwanyex It's natural to care more about something when you have "skin in the game". More importantly, you care about it in a rounded, pragmatic way, rather than slamming hard to the side of whatever ideology you're favoring.
@xwanyex Someone can be very pro-social and a jerk, too. It just means they hide their jerkness more. I suspect the voting preferences is less about the "jerk" and more about the "anti-social".
@wil_da_beast630 I've heard @RodeoProfessor argue beavering was actually -much- more important for the economy, given how much it drove mapping out the frontier & thus paved the way for settling the Wild West.
@wil_da_beast630 Is the dark secret that you could do this to basically -any- group, regardless of ethnicity or social status, and that the poor are usually targeted because they're slightly less risky?
@wil_da_beast630 I know that may sound crazy, but given the amount of straight-up snubbing of detransitioners- many of whom I assume are the same upper middle class types most transgenders come from- I kinda suspect they would've just destroyed anyone who complained regardless of social status.
@wil_da_beast630 Wait... he's saying the official census literally created -more- ethnic groups so some of them could get special benefits, and everyone was surprised this caused explosive friction between the two groups? Even the Communists whose entire schtick is inequality causes violence?
@romanhelmetguy The problem with this reasoning is they're causing all the problems NOT because they're the only troublemakers, but because they're the ones with the most power. Topple them and the NEXT 300 will become the top dogs & start causing problems.
@SwipeWright It'll never stop being darkly hilarious that the UK police are locking people up for hate crimes left & right but refusing to lock up immigrant rapists because it'd be bad press for the government.
@wil_da_beast630 That is, of course, assuming you HAVE to out-monster the monster to survive.
"Be slightly evil" could be useful advice here. There's a whole gradient between "naive" and "sociopath".
@JacobAShell The fact it wraps around a corner is the brutal part. Unless you're staring at it straight-on, you lose track of which line's the next one so quickly.
