@cold_and_quiet The last 10 years of internet has just been a conga line of shocking revelations as to why a lot of the old institutions and "problematic" social beliefs existed in the first place.
And the genie isn't going back in the bottle. You can't un-know what you know.
@jondelarroz If there is a book series that's ripe for TV adaptation, it's Anderson's Flandry series. A corrupt, decadent empire being supported by an agent who still adheres to the old virtues of duty? Deliciously reactionary. https://t.co/7202ckiqmR
Hey remember that time that Nancy Pelosi was testing the waters with Mark Milley about instigating a military coup? Those were the days... https://t.co/8qrpEEWTVY
@LionBlogosphere The difference is that the writers had no problem coming up with the technobabble to explain fantasy technological issues. They can't even conceptualize how to describe how the Star Trek economy works. That's how fantasy-like it is.
@LionBlogosphere It's easier to come up with technobabble describing how FTL travel is possible than explaining how the 23rd-24th Century Star Trek economy works. Maybe because one is Science Fiction and one is Fantasy.
I hear a lot of people talk about nerds and Star Wars these days. But Star Wars was never for actual nerds. Star TREK was for real nerds. Trekkies are the ones who have blue prints for plasma engines and learn how to sing Klingon operas and complain if the stars in the sky of a particular episode are actually correct from a certain date and view from Earth.
