🫡 to Booster 1069
We refer to 1069 as the OG tippy rocket. It lived a long and fruitful life after it came about as close as you can get to being lost on its first mission. On that mission, CRS-24, it landed in rough seas and immediately had severe uneven leg loads, causing it to “tip.” We spent the next two hours watching the rocket on camera literally dance from side to side on the droneship. Through the incredible skill of our @SpaceX recovery team and a decent amount of luck, we were able to pin the rocket against the droneship tow board and blast wall with the octagrabber jammed under the engines. Somehow, against all odds, the team got 1069 home. We replaced all nine engines that were damaged in the process… and then it flew another 31 successful missions!!! 🚀
Never. Give. Up.
One pilot marked the 15th anniversary of the final @NASA Space Shuttle mission this week with a special flight path in Florida. Rewind the flight for yourself at https://t.co/f1URyzTKre
This will forever be among my favorite things Ive had the honor of capturing.
In 2021 Wally Funk finally went to space after a lifetime of trying. After landing, eating lunch, being in a press conference, and then in a photo op, she turned to leave, finally done with a monumental day.
But, as everyone walked away from the rocket that booster their capsule she paused, turned, and took a moment to soak it all in. This is that moment.
Be like Wally. Never give up, and when you do finally succeed, soak it in.
Driving through Ohio. Towns like this are why we’re trying to avoid the interstates and take the slower roads instead. These are the kinds of places we want to see. This feels like peak America.🇺🇸
Overnight in Berlin, Ohio and wow it’s beautiful here. The sunset might be playing a huge part in it, but this is one of my favorite places of the whole trip so far.
Turmeric needs black pepper to activate. Garlic needs fat to release its compounds. Tomatoes need heat to unlock lycopene. Food science is real. Cook with intention and your food becomes medicine.
Somebody has to be the richest person on the planet.
The fact that it’s the guy who popularized electric cars, made rockets reusable, and is working on curing blindness and paraplegia as a side quest seems fair to me.
If you're traveling around with excess baggage in life, just schedule a flight through DFW. They'll surely lose it and leave you light and unencumbered for a better future.
