'It's not my duty as Mayor to make sure you have a parking spot. It's the same as if you bought a 𝗰𝗼𝘄, or 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲, and then ask me where you're going to put them.'
— Miguel Lores, 6x re-elected Mayor of #Pontevedra, Spain🇪🇸
The #WaterForward high-level event, on the sidelines of #HLPF 2026, brought together representatives from governments, financing institutions, technical agencies, philanthropies, and the private sector to advance a common goal: accelerating progress toward #WaterSecurity for all.
The Abia State Government has pledged immediate intervention at three severe gully erosion sites threatening lives, property and farmlands in Bende and Umuahia North Local Government Areas. The commitment followed an on-the-spot assessment by officials of the State Ministry of Environment and the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project-European Investment Bank Assisted (NEWMAP-EIB). https://t.co/ak9ukxLCmz via EnviroNews
AI may feel intangible, but its footprint is not.
Data centres already consume more electricity than most countries.
I’m calling on every major AI company to measure & publicly disclose the full footprint of its systems & to commit to power every data centre with renewable energy by 2030.
How is #AsiaPacific doing on the #SDGs?
Strong progress in industry, health, poverty reduction and clean water. But gaps remain.

The Energy Decode | Episode 2: The Water-Bound Watts
What happens when land is limited but the demand for clean energy keeps growing? We look to the water.
Floating Solar transforms reservoirs, lakes and dams into power-generating hubs by installing solar panels on water surfaces. The result? Reduced land-use pressure, improved panel efficiency due to the cooling effect of water, and clean energy from spaces that often are not utilised.
It's a simple idea with a big impact—turning calm waters into catalysts for India's energy transition.
Less land. Cooler panels. More power.

Increasing investment in irrigation & agricultural innovation by $12B annually could more than double fruit & vegetable production in #MENA, Afghanistan & Pakistan, & raise cereal yields by 72% by 2050, while reducing water use.

It was an honour today to open the 2026 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
In my opening remarks, I stressed that “the world does not need another catalogue of challenges. We know the challenges.” What we need is greater coherence, stronger partnerships, more effective international cooperation, faster implementation, and, most of all, better delivery and impact on the ground.
Now, with less than five years remaining until 2030, the challenge before us is not simply to move faster. It is to work differently, collectively and resolve.
Implementation can no longer be approached one Goal, one sector or one institution at a time. It requires policies that are integrated, partnerships that are stronger and international cooperation that is more effective. #HLPF #GlobalGoals #SDGs https://t.co/XCwOtnlqWe
Watch the moment the River Kemp flowed through its newly restored channel 😍
We worked with @severnrivers, @NaturalEngland, landowners and other partners to reconnect the river in Shrops. This will boost wildlife, improve water quality and lots more.
