@leadpile@WarMonitor3 Control radars are a back-up means of aircraft separation, most aircraft even in Russia use ADS-B as their primary means. You can buy ADS-B receiver for relatively cheap. Obliterating the towers might be worth it tho.
@RussiaBattleMap@NotWoofers You don't necessarily have to hit aircraft to degrade civilian air travel. Especially going into winter hitting the ILS, VOR and GBAS station along with the control tower would fuck the usefulness of most airports.
@flzjvididns@bneeditor The Russians have been striking Ukraine's power grid since the first year of the war and have continued to target them relentlessly every winter since.
@Rebel44CZ I just don't think there are enough airframes to go around for APKWS to be scaled against jet shaheds. Interceptor drones powered with derivatives of RC jet engines seem likely the most efficient solution.
@SmokerPeter99@CvinaShapur@MenchOsint Although not original designed to be disposable that's what they have become. A lot of these airframes are 15+ years old with maxed out airframe life and aren't survivable enough to be useful in other scenarios - may as well use them now.
@marktwain316@BadCow1100@talkrealopinion Are you referring to the grain deal from 2022-2023? because it was stopped due to Russia not wanting to extend it any further, there were no other agreements about shipping in the Black Sea after this.
@waaaxon75757@belle_epoque86@HormuzLetter You're getting angry at AI slop account, the prompt that the account owner gave likely got poverty rate and homelessness mixed up. Don't waste time on this.
@marktwain316@BadCow1100@talkrealopinion Every winter they've hit TPP's throughout the country, they've also hit grain silos and loading infrastructure in Odessa as well as shopping centers throughout the war.
@justincbzz Reliable interceptor drones were only rolled-out in May of last year and the Geran-4 was only used against Ukraine in April. APKWS exists but there just isn't the airframes to hit everything. Jet powered interceptor drones are the best bet. UA should have been more prepared tho.
@Mkellytx2 BFM is great to train for but I don't think ACM is terribly relevant anymore. The war in Ukraine has been going on for 4 years and I'm not aware of a single dog-fight that has happened.
@NotWoofers "Nearly all" might be them not wasting an interceptor on a missile heading towards the empty desert. I'm sure we will have the entire population of Jordan doing BDA if something valuable is hit.
@WritingFates@Rebel44CZ Yep, the interceptor shortage has been brewing for 6 months now and it looks like very little has been done to disperse or harden obvious valuable targets
@Sparapet1389@aniwacked@DelwinStrategy All Russian service contracts have been extended until the end of the special military operation. The amount that leave the military that aren't dead or severely wounded is negligible. Same applies for the Ukrainian force.
@cameron19460429 I find it difficult to believe that Russia will be able to have an annual production of 10,000 units on a clean sheet design in the first year - especially something that is jet powered and silo launched in its ground configuration.
@CartesianOven@cameron19460429 All I can find is a Russian statement and kriegsforscher repeating said statement. For reference Russia made 10,000 Shaheeds a year in 2024 - after 2.5 years of investment and significant assistance from Iran, on a design that's much easier to scale than a jet cruise missile.
@aniwacked@DelwinStrategy I think 30K a month is the high end estimate of Russian casualties; not unrecoverable losses. The Russians still get slightly more in then they lose. Ukraine needs more manpower to build up a reserve so they aren't firefighting with their elite infantry all the time.
