The govt seems to have made full preparations to evacuate the youth at Jantar Mantar by force last night using para military forces, but seeing the enormous crowds there along with politicians & celebrities, it seems there was a rethink & they desisted.
This govt feels, it can ignore public opinion since they have the main institutions like the Judiciary, Media and ECI under their control. But they forget that public opinion affects many people in those institutions too. Moreover, history is littered with examples of how people overthrew dictatorial govts by revolutions when they ignored public opinion & used brute force on the people
I don’t understand the logic of this government. All the students want is to be heard, and their demands appear reasonable. Why bring in additional CRPF personnel to curb a protest that could likely be de-escalated through dialogue? Is talking to students really that difficult?

Enjoy retirement.
If you *only* used SAT to admit to elite colleges, share of admits from top 1% income falls 15.8% → 9.9% and representation from <$200k rises by +8.8%, with no reduction in post-college outcomes.
It's 'holistic review' and 'ban SAT' policy that allows the most wealthy and powerful to virtue signal while getting an edge.
Fixing American manufacturing is likely more about not having 50% of young people want to be social media influencers and wanting to be engineers instead.
There’s a lesson in there for what should be done about Tik Tok…
I’m still stunned by how many people across the country and world who do not know that Cal and UC Berkeley are the same institution. When you have opportunities to help close that gap, please take them. Thanks. @UCBerkeley @Cal
India counted 640M+ votes without incident earlier this year, with ID verification and a vote count that concluded right after Election Day.
It is possible to conduct fair elections at scale in the modern era.
