Using a visual aid (blank paper with base-10 blocks to shade) or a physical manipulative (base-10 blocks) can both be great ways to represent to a student and help them distinguish between the digits and place value and what each of those things mean.

Creating a class where all ideas are welcomed will help students feel comfortable sharing, which in turn helps
