What’s the evidence webinars improve teacher practice/student outcomes? Can we PLEASE stop with the online/surface level/no follow up approaches & consider what schools really need to make impactful, lasting change? The SoR/SoL crowd don’t seem to like following the PL evidence.
Building great professional learning programs is key to all we do in schools, but it's hard. At @DocklandsPS, we've thought deeply about how to establish a strong cadence for improvement. Three years in, we now have 8 core structures for developing knowledge and practices. (1/10)
Sorry what. ABC radio tonight reported we have 300,000 teachers working in Australian schools and 100,000 registered teachers NOT working in our schools. To have 25% of the workforce out speaks volume. It’s time for a radical rethink of workload and behaviour policy, yes?
🔒️The Autumn OUMTC closes in two days on the 20th October!🔒️
Join the 1,915 schools and over 68,000 students who have already completed this practice MTC assessment! 🎯

This is a brilliant school with brilliant leadership and a clear vision for curriculum, teaching and learning. If you’re in Geelong, or keen to make a move, check these positions out.
What a day! So much discussion and reflection. Time to review our curriculum map. Thank you @EminaMcLean we are privileged to work alongside such knowledgeable professional who is currently doing what she preaches. @MissChloe_P time to rewrite!
@EminaMcLean I don’t have the ten hours, but had the same line of thought and started today anyway 🤦🏼♀️🫠
Some interesting findings. Let’s compare notes when we see you in a few weeks!
Since we can’t teach what we don’t know, pre published resources are an excellent way of insuring equitable classrooms. The teachers are released to differentiate by support because they don’t have to spend all their focus on the resources. @jdtdobson@buckingham_j@TVtheTeacher
My favorite part of comparative judgement. The moderation session where teachers talk about why writing samples ranked where they did, and HOW they will address consistent errors/misconceptions. Calm, collaborative, and without the combative vibe that used to permeate our spaces!
@jdtdobson@DougBPetersen@TrinaDSpencer2 Thanks for the insights, James! We trialed using Story Champs in T4 last year. Our kids LOVE it. Getting onto it earlier, once a week has been a game changer. Looking forward to seeing how you get on.
@rachabuck Jealousy levels were HIGH when I saw you this morning, Rachael. One of the best PDs I’ve done is @BronRyrieJones Responsive Teaching Masterclass!
@Mr_Garbutt@ollie_lovell@mrbartonmaths I went outside for five minutes first thing this morning.
Doesn’t solve the having small children part does it?! 🥱😂
@ollie_lovell and @mrbartonmaths new co-lab was always going to deliver on the nuances of teaching tips and tools. What I hadn’t expected was the masterclass on how to disagree, to challenge and question the teaching principles and approaches of others & yourself respectfully 👏🏻
@mrbartonmaths@ollie_lovell I also can’t wait, Craig. Your chemistry is 10/10 and I felt like I’d been at a dinner with friends who are just as passionate about teaching and learning as I am. Thanks for putting so many gems out into the world!
