The calmest people I know have stopped trying to control outcomes they can't control. They do their best. Release the rest. Attachment to specific results is attachment to suffering. Control the input. Accept the output.
While it is clear, after the contest, which moment made the difference, you can’t know it in advance. So we train to seek the moment, to seize the moment and to never doubt ourselves for a moment when it arrives
Compliant teams: "This is what we do because we have to."
Committed teams: "This is what we do because this is who we are."
What kind of culture are you creating?
Leaders set the tone.
The goal is not to be happy all the time.
It’s okay to be anxious. It’s okay to be sad.
It’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to be vulnerable.
The goal is to have the emotional flexibility to navigate whatever it is you are feeling and to stay the course on what matters to you.
Thinking about the work is not doing the work. Talking about the work is not doing the work. Dreaming about the work is not doing the work.
Only doing the work is doing the work—and it’s where you find lasting fulfillment and satisfaction.
A great coach doesn't make you comfortable. They make you confront the gap between your current self and your potential self. Their job is to create the productive discomfort necessary for you to close that gap.
You can train in a sports specific manner while doing things that don't look like the sport - if impact levels, velocities, power outputs, tissue loads, are competition-like, it's sports specific. If sportlike training movements don't achieve this, you're not prepared.
Anyone can go all out for a day, perhaps even a week. Few can exert sound and measured efforts for a year, decade, lifetime.
The former look good on Instagram. The latter become champions.
Linear progress is a myth. The truth is there are peaks, valleys, and plateaus. This is why it’s so important to focus on the process over acute results; take a long view; and surround yourself with people who will support you when you’re down and provide gravity when you soar.
Early December is the point in the offseason when some players realize that "Just rest it" turned out to be bad advice. Rest can help to resolve a medical diagnosis (pathology), but it won't help resolve the underlying movement diagnosis that actually caused the pathology.
Medicine Ball Training is one of the most adaptable training tools - but such adaptability can lead to a lack of precision in training outcome.
Improve programming and adaptation to training by following these principles and following the 4-category training model 👇
Hip lock for free energy. ⚡️
To attack from above🔨
To transfer energy between your thighs.
To keep hamstrings at optimal length. 🦿
To support your tendons with pretension. ⛓️
To better prepare for ground contact ♨️.
To increase running economy.♻️
It’s all about thigh angular velocity and how it feeds effective and efficient running!

If you’re a young coach trying to, or just getting into S&C, go find 20-30 13 year olds and train them as a whole group for 6 months.
Do it for free if you have to.
It will be the best education you can get. You’ll learn to COACH. Or you’ll learn to find another line of work.
Science you can’t ignore:
Gains don’t happen during training
Gains happen when you RECOVER from training
No recovery means no gains
This is true whether you like it or not

"It takes hours and hours and hours to devote to be great at something.
You can't skip that step.
You have to do that."
Success isn’t something you schedule.
It shows up when you’ve put in the work, when you’ve earned it.
I get being unsure of your path. BUT Apply as much pressure to where you are RIGHT NOW. If you’re a janitor, become the best. If you’re an intern, go 150%. Those investments will transform you. You can level up right where you are.
Chasing perfection is an exhausting, futile pursuit. Every day ends in defeat.
When you pursue progress, every day is a chance to get a win.
Progress > Perfection
