A basic reminder on exactly what the Total Cholesterol Metric means - when you see mg/dL that is the WEIGHT of the collective mass of all of the cholesterol molecules in ALL of the lipoproteins circulating in a deciliter of plasma - if you see it reported in mmol/L it is the number (not the weight) of all of the cholesterol molecules in ALL of the circulating particles (recall 1 mole is 6x10 to 23rd power and a mmol is 6 x 10 17th power - i.e. a lot of cholesterol molecules: 6 quadrillion) @nationallipid@society_eas
Our final 1 y follow up from the SANTORINI Registry- the largest study for a while. Overall LDL-C goal attainment improves but still low 30%. Combination therapy associated with better goal attainment. We need to figure out how to implement what we have. https://t.co/nuy6qupsTy
This is such sad news and it is a shame The Nobel Committee never honored him. His work has reduced more CV morbidity and mortality that virtually any other

Studies have not demonstrated an increased risk of cognitive impairment, Alzheimer's dementia, or hemorrhagic stroke associated with lowering LDL-C levels.
