BREAKING: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala from Nigeria is appointed as the next WTO Director-General.

Dr. Okonjo-Iweala makes history as the first woman and the first African to lead the WTO.

Her term starts on the 1st of March 2021.

As Chair of the Working Party on the Accession of South Sudan to the WTO, had a virtual meeting with a group of senior officials of South Sudan to discuss the next steps in South Sudan's WTO accession process.

Had the privilege to chair the Committee on Trade and Development's 49th Session on Aid4Trade. At the meeting, WTO Members were updated on the consequences of the current pandemic on the implementation of the Aid for Trade Work Program.

#Uzbekistan has renewerd its #WTO accession process after 15years of stalemate. I welcomed it on behalf of the g7+ WTO Accession group as well as in my national capacity as the Permanente Representative of Afghanistan to WTO.
