New in Criminology! Punishment as a racialized package of confinement, cash, and surveillance. By @ryanplarson, Rob Stewart, @Veronica_L_H, and some old guy. This detailed thread by Ryan show ‘n tells the story.
Congrats to @UCIrvine alum Matthew C. Leone ('90, PhD @social_ecology) for recently being named a Distinguished Faculty member at @UNevadaReno. He's been a professor of criminal justice since 1990 at UNR, where he's the interim director of the Judicial Studies Graduate Program.
New! For folks in recovery, working in certain "felon friendly" industries (eg, bars/restaurants) can be triggering, narrowing job options.

I once spotted a grad student on the Coldplay Kiss Cam and he came to class the next day saying he was up studying all night. Oh really, I said. And I showed him the clip.

Happy Monday! Please share the job posting below. Great opportunity to join the CJ Policy team at Arnold Ventures.
That team works to implement/scale interventions that our Research team has deemed "evidence-based," and also works with our broad policy/practice network to seed new innovations and evaluations.
Manager positions are a great chance to learn a lot about the CJ field, meet lots of people, and get an inside look at how philanthropy works to catalyze change. Most CJ Managers spend 2-3 years at AV and use this position as a launchpad for the next phase in their careers.
I'm obviously biased but I think this is a super exciting team to work for, at an important time in the CJ policy space. We're up to big things, our team is fabulous, and AV is a great place to work.
Please share widely!
