@admcrlsn Did Schumer prevent a talented field? If Mills hadn't run, which strong candidate would have run? The left was already uniting around Platner before Mills jumped in. The strongest dems were all piling into the GOV primary.

@freedaaron MY is the first person to admit that abundance by itself is not a vote winner. But there is quite a bit of room for targeted reform that doesn't create meaningful voter backlash. Upzoning along public transit as an example.

@NilesGApol What exactly was the alternative for Schumer and Gillibrand? Other good recruits went for the GOV race. Not at all clear that an alternative would have done meaningfully better then Mills.

@dcg1114 With MoE on these estimates we simply can't say if Platner is doing better or worse. We would also need to compare with an generic D running in 26 not 20. As the enviroment is better for dems, electorate is more polarized and Collins less popular.

If you do very strict immigration enforcement there will be way less illegal immigrants. You can crack down on birth tourism by vetting female tourist under 40 more strictly.
