🗣️ “When Jürgen Klopp arrived at Liverpool, he wanted to change the team’s training times. Most of us had trained in the mornings throughout our entire careers. Klopp, however, believed that if the team played most of its matches in the evening, our training should reflect that.

The reaction? Complaints. ‘The players started coming in and feeling like they were in a daze.’ A few of them approached me and asked, ‘Can’t we do this earlier?’

As captain, Jordan Henderson knocked on Klopp’s office door.

‘A few of the players aren’t happy with these late training sessions. Is there any chance we could train in the morning?’

Klopp looked surprised. ‘Who said that? Who’s complaining about it?’

Henderson refused to give him any names. After thinking for a moment, Klopp told him to pass on a message: if anyone had a problem with the training times, they should come and tell him directly.

Henderson passed the message on to the dressing room.

How many players went to speak to the manager about it?

None.

Not a single one even tried.

This anecdote is a masterclass in dealing with complaints: acknowledge the complaint, but don’t indulge it. Encourage people to take responsibility. Much of the noise disappears when accountability is required.

Research supports this idea. On average, we complain around 11 times a day, with three of those complaints happening before we even leave the house. We spend around 20 minutes a day complaining, which adds up to approximately 77 hours a year. That’s more than an entire weekend!

Complaining is mentally exhausting. Studies show that people who complain constantly feel more drained than those with a more positive outlook. When people work in groups, bonding often happens through shared complaining. According to research, a group can complain as many as 50 times in a single hour!

Saw this video and can't stop thinking about it. Two men in a car run into attackers who double-cross them on the road. The driver doesn't panic. He stops, throws the car into full reverse and speeds backwards, staying steady enough to actually see where he's going, then turns and drives off as if nothing happened.

The guy beside him wasn't as lucky mentally. A few seconds into the reverse, he jumps out of the still moving car, rolls on the ground from fear, and ends up right back in front of the attackers. He obviously got seriously hurt doing the one thing that felt safe in the moment.

Both men faced the same threat. Only one kept his head.

It shows how much staying calm and actually knowing how to control a car in reverse can be the difference between walking away and not walking away at all. Most drivers never practice this until they're forced to.

He cold called Howard Schultz and flew to Seattle. Schultz told him Starbucks did not do franchises. Johnson said he was not asking for one, he wanted to be a partner and would put up half the money. Schultz said he would come and look at the theater first.

He picked the Friday Waiting to Exhale opened. 5,000 women were wrapped around the block. 20 minutes in, the whole house was talking back to Whitney Houston. Schultz pulled him into the lobby, said he had never had a movie going experience quite like it, and gave him the deal.

He did not sell anyone a demographic. He flew across the country and made one man stand in it.

They gave him 3 stores as a test. He took the scones out and put in sweet potato pie, swapped Lawrence Welk for Prince, and his per store numbers beat what Starbucks was doing itself.

3 stores became 125, in the neighborhoods everybody had told him would not pay $3 for a cup of coffee.

His first real estate fund raised $300 million. The second raised $600 million. The third raised a billion.

Everyone waits to be believed. Nobody wants the version where the proof only works if you stand somebody inside it.

Being right about a market is the easy half. Getting one person to come and look, after 10 banks have already said no, is the part you will not do.

Everyone assumes the name did the work. He says he expected it to be easier because he was Magic Johnson, and it turned out harder. The name got him the meeting. A Friday night in Crenshaw got him the deal.

1) After he won...i started checking him out...and speaking to senior people in corporate and public world that are in my network....
I recall one of them, a CEO of one of the top 5 Banks said to me...
"Genevieve, I know you dey gbadu brilliant technocrats and strong willed people; if there is any civilian president that got those...It is President Tinubu.
Nigeria has never had a technocrat (chartered accounrant, finance expert, consultant and former corporate leader) as President...He is one. A QUANT HEAD!!...

2) He removed Fuel Subsidy totally and deregulated both oil and forex markets and held it down! ...something i preached on my facebook posts since 2009 because those TWO DEMONIC CHAINS would never let us move forward!!
I never saw it coming.
I was one of the few that supported GEJ when he removed fuel subsidy...so i got pained when he buckled!!🥲

3) I read his Renewed Hope Manifesto after he won ( didnt read it before then) and right there on pages 68 and 69 were his plans for FEDERALISM!...
I was like...that is Brilliantly Bullish...nobody has ever dared...and based on his footprints so far...he got the pathway so clear....

In the case of INEC versus Balarabe Musa (2003), the Supreme Court ruled that the Public Rules requiring public servants to be politically neutral and banning them from joining political parties or holding political views violates their Constitutional rights to Freedom of Association and Assembly under Section 40 of the Constitution.

What public servants are required to do is to be *politically neutral in the discharge of their duties..* That means that they should not favour a citizen because they belong to the same political party or discriminate against another because they are of a different political persuasion. But it doesn’t mean that they cannot be politically partisan.

Words penned by men, most of whom owned slaves, to justify their break from British rule.

By "all men," they meant all white men and certainly not women. Had they truly believed Black people were created equal, there would have been no need for a civil war 85 years later fought substantially over the right to own them. Nor would it have taken almost a century after (99 years) until the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for Black Americans to receive the full protection of the Constitution those words claimed to guarantee.
