February has been exceptionally mild. The longest instrument temperature series in the world is the Central England Temperature record with measurements back to 1659! So far this month, temperatures are at record levels, 4.5C above average.

It's now official: Yesterday was the hottest October day on record in France. High temperatures soared as high as 35.8°C - Which is now the hottest temperature ever recorded in October in France. Crazy.

The first global temperature data is in for the full month of September. This month was, in my professional opinion as a climate scientist – absolutely gobsmackingly bananas. JRA-55 beat the prior monthly record by over 0.5C, and was around 1.8C warmer than preindutrial levels.

A minister has just told the BBC: "today is a positive day. The price cap has come down."

⬆️ Daily standing charges for gas are up 8% and for electricity up 119%.

There have been unconfirmed reports on Sunday that China set a new national temperature record at 52.2C in Sanbao, Xinjiang Province.
Incredibly it's roughly 6 months since it also saw a record low temp of -53C. So in that short time it's a swing of more than 100C.
