@GCSE_Macbeth We do use past papers (we also use our own questions). The benefit of past papers is absolutely to do with ensuring my team are confident in applying the mark scheme - using Exampro with standardised responses to use as model answers - so we get as accurate data as possible.

@TeacherBusy We then use 1-10 to see if they are working towards, secure or secure plus on that particular assessment. It works for us. It is a tricky thing to get right at KS3 I think!

@TeacherBusy We think about the skills they need to master at reading and writing and then think about what this would look like for a y7, y8 and y9 student - what we would expect them to be able to do. We work up from kS2 and down from KS4 - creating marksheets for each assessment piece.
