We got our girl STEM power on today and made an elevator for her dollhouse. She asked if we could add lights next so she may be getting some @BrownDogGadgets for her birthday!
I love having Ss take their projects out of the classroom & into the school. The pride they displayed today as other students, the nurse, the librarian and custodian asked about their projects made my heart burst. #STEM
My 8th graders have been building RC cars. Finally got the steering mechanism to work! Next up designing and 3D printing the body. My favorite question with #STEM projects: When is this due? Answer: When it works!
@bethany_jones4@Makerspaces_com @DremelDigiLab Couldn’t wait to try this. I can’t stop playing with it! Now to challenge Ss to come up with their own designs. Thanks for sharing this awesome project!
Ss want custom tires for their RC cars. Tips on printing with TPU? I have blue painters tape down. High temp and SLOW speed, but haven’t found that perfect combo yet! #STEM#3Dprinting
@MsCapwell@GiftedTawk Yes! Jump in there with woodworking! It is so empowering. I still remember when my high school theater teacher put those tools in my hands and taught me to build set. I get to see that look in my Ss eyes now. Absolute best!
@GiftedTawk Soldering! It’s such a challenging art but I’m getting better. Practicing while building RC cars from scratch with my engineering Ss right now but I’d like to do some stained glass and/or jewelry with it in future lessons. But I’m also working on Codeblocks!
When your team is going to the Super Bowl, you tailor your lesson plans! Learning the power of statistics in sports while exploring variables. #STEM#SuperBowLIV#KCChiefs
@GiftedTawk We haven’t done enough of them yet to tell, but that gives me the idea to expand this project and have them purposely explore those variables and create a database for future students.
