Don’t underestimate the power of teamwork in math! We had a fun time completing in the “percents doughnut” problem from @nrichmaths! A lot of rich discussions coming from students. Ended off Friday with a trip to the park on a beautiful day. @hartmanheroes
Marshmallow tower structures in science today! Gr.7s explored live, dynamic and dynamic loads acting on structures. Gr.8s discussed systems and components. We followed up with a discussion on the importance of teamwork and communication✅ @hartmanheroes
We made dreidels in math this week and learned about Hanukkah! At CPS, we love to learn about family traditions. Ss investigated fair share problems, part-part-whole relationships, probability, and addition! @CPSCougars@YRDSBmath
Pokémon is a fan favourite so in writing we discussed how learning to write is like a Pokémon evolving! Ss reflected on their writing and what they can do to improve. It takes time but we can ALL get there! Having visual goals to refer to has helped us a lot! @CPSCougars
Leaf chromatography experiment in room 13! Students had a great time collecting the samples and working together to complete the task. We read a book to consolidate our new learning about seasonal changes. @YRDSBoutdoorEd@CPSCougars
Our poem this week explores #TreatiesRecognitionWeek ! We discussed why it is important to take care of the land during our nature walk. Connection to the land is so important as we go into conversations about our responsibilities as Treaty people. @CPSCougars

Gr.1/2s talked about all the different ways numbers can be represented! We made our own clothespin number line and Ss got to choose how they wanted their number to be represented. Can’t wait to use our class number line for skip counting! @YRDSBmath@CPSCougars#mathisfun
Rm.13’s first number talk! We discussed how math can look different for everyone. Ss were given a problem to solve how many counters were in their math kit. We saw counting one by one, skip counting,and estimating. All ideas are valued in our classroom! @CPSCougars@YRDSBmath

Today, Gr. 4's explored the #Whoseland app and learned that #Markham is part of the Williams treaty. Ss identified sites they recognized in their communities. Students extended their learning with a #TreatiesRecognitionWeek choice board. @EVS_YRDSB
#TreatiesRecognitionWeek is Nov. 1-7. As a classroom community we hope to deepen our knowledge on the importance and meaning of treaties. Ss made text to self connections as they reflect on discussions and whether where they live is situated on treaty land. @EVS_YRDSB
Learned how to create an Escape Room using @GoogleForEdu Forms. As a formative assessment Ss were tasked with opening locks by solving questions related to animal habitats. #Gamification and #Marvel increases student buy-in which is a "key" part of #virtuallearning! @EVS_YRDSB
