Working on a teacher leadership project for my MAT program: to all teachers doing remote learning, what does teacher leadership look like during COVID-19? #EdChat#Education
In the #CONSTRUCTION phase of my #PBL plan for secondary social studies- wondering if any educators have had success with a "Need to Know List" for Ss that aligns to standards?
@LizPasqTeaches @KarlKnapp1776@KarlKnapp1776 love the use of partner questionnaire. Builds value in being interested in the thoughts of others while also asking students to decide where their interests lie!
@EvanTeaches Love the idea of having the instructor sign off before moving to the next element- great way to build trust between Ss and instructors while providing a formative assessment.
As I am #creating my final product for #EDUC755, I found this great write-up about combining UL and PBL to shift from isolating differentiation to inclusive scaffolding. All about S ownership over learning!
Designing to the Edges: Using Universal Design for Learning in PBL | A teacher explains how she moved from Differentiated Instruction to scaffolding that benefits all students. https://t.co/1FZUl16m06 #SEL#PBL#deeperlearning#PBL4Specialists#sped#UDL
Are you new to #PBL? This graphic is an important reminder about the difference between "doing projects" and project-based learning. Download the graphic here: https://t.co/UcReDwL9T2 #pblchat#hqpbl
A concern with #PBL is making sure standards are met. This article describes the process of working backwards from standards and planning from there: https://t.co/VCbPbkadsM #EDUC755
In looking deeper into #PBL, I have seen the importance of connection to the outside world in building intrinsic motivation for learning in Ss. Letting Ss know there is an audience outside of the class makes learning authentic.
Me: Ugh my writing is terrible right now.
(finishes a paragraph with an alliteration.)
Me: I wonder how many awards I will get from this dynamic piece that challenges us all.
Some very interesting points-- when it comes to testing, where do we draw the line between assessing knowledge and motivating students to achieve? #EDUC755
Kid scores 100% on a retest... Only given a 70%. For what possible justification do we put scores in the gradebook that do not match what a student knows?
Here is some research for you "there is no average time to learn something" and each kid isn't the same so why act like it
Talked in class today about figuring out content delivery and pacing when it comes to county pacing guides and state standards-- any tips for balancing thematic teacher with chronological curriculum? #sschat#ednc
@Lys_Morrison I have seen praise used as a classroom management tool in reaffirming a student that is seen as a leader in the class when they engage and contribute.
@Lys_Morrison As we saw in the Science of Learning, we should teach students, “to see critical feedback as a sign of others’ beliefs that they are able to meet high standards.” It not only constructs, but validates worth as a student. #EDUC755
@Lys_Morrison Format questions in a way that students can access: clear, concise, language that they understand and can interpret. Teachers also need to show why the question matters to the student. #755class
