Time and time again, my opponent voted to give big tech data centers BILLIONS in tax breaks.
Now it’s election season and he claims he will “review” them for the future.
I don’t need to change my position, I voted against them every single time.
Is everyone ready for the discussion about the flooding and runoff solar industrial complexes cause?
The developer comes in, strips the topsoil, dumps it in a pile nearby, compacts the remaining soil, kills all vegetation that was providing drainage, and grades the facilities, most times, against the natural grading.
The result is moved, displaced water that’s not absorbed into the ground. The developers don’t care. They got their green energy subsidies and credits. They’re off to the next parcel of land to destroy.
This is especially bad when the developers clear-cut forests to make way for solar complexes. They are cutting down hundreds of thousands of trees as we speak. Just look up Moraine Solar today.
This is one of the many ways these complexes destroy our towns, our parks, our wildlife, and our soil. Since the money made off the complex comes from physical building the complex, and not the actual (pathetic and intermittent) power generated, the developers don’t care.
We cannot allow them to insert these ecological detention centers into our rural towns and parks.
Been saying for years. AI in schools is child abuse. And you will produce the dumbest generation that has ever walked the earth. Dumber than those in the Dark Ages because these kids now will not know how to even chop wood or churn butter. They will be paralyzed without an internet connection, and their brains will never have made vital connections when young. Brain dead.
Hundreds of people.
In the rain.
For three hours.
What issue could bring people together like this?
Just one: Nobody wants a data center near them. Nobody.
And just wait til these people find out the end result of that desecration of their land risks the likely slaughter of everyone they know and love and all other humans too.
Block the data centers and hurt the AI companies financially, create delays and friction in the system eroding investor confidence.
And get this energy into saving humanity from extinction.
One big tent.
The tide is turning.
Denmark’s PM Mette Frederiksen:
There is a total established link between power, political power, capital, tech giants and AI. And the purpose of this is undermining democracy.
That's the goal because the people who are developing this stuff are against democracy.
I met Sam Altman a couple of years ago. I spent hours with him and at the end of the discussion I said to him, "You have created a monster."
And he said, "Yes, and now it's up to you to find out how to deal with it."
New York State has to get all that money to court foreign wind and solar developers from somewhere!
They get that money from you. They get it from your taxes, and they get it from the delivery charges on your electric bills.
Since solar generates such an intermittent and pathetic amount of energy in a commercial arrangement in our state, they need millions of dollars in subsidies and credits to insulate the foreign solar developers.
Commercial solar cannot stand on its own in an open market.
In order to avoid discussing how commercial solar has failed in our state, they’d rather ramp up the money they’re making off you.
Testimony tomorrow at noon at the Ohio statehouse. Come to support, even if you can’t give verbal or written testimony.
I'm an Ohio resident. I started asking questions about what's being built in our communities and what I found should scare you.
Here's what I learned:
Your water. A data center near you could draw 3-5 MILLION gallons of water per day from the same aquifer your well uses. There is currently no Ohio law that compensates you if your well goes dry, if the water is contaminated, if water usage skyrockets so much that you have exponentially higher water bills, or are asked to limit water usage.
Your electric bill. Grid strain is already happening. Rates are already up. Smart meters can throttle YOUR home's power during peak demand. Data centers are exempt. Solutions in discussion but no compensation for the harm already occurred. No guarantees on cost or grid reliability.
Your health. No independent cumulative health study exists for communities near these facilities. Not one. The EMF, noise, vibration, and air pollution from diesel generators on humans. No impact studies on bees, cattle or other farm animal populations or reproduction.
Your voice. Emergency zoning procedures are being used to skip public comment. Local officials are signing NDA's. Communities are finding out AFTER the fact.
Your privacy. An afterthought. You are the commodity.
I am not anti-technology.
I am pro-Ohio.
I am asking you to be too.
This is a representative government.
30,000 of us already said no.
Are you next?

🚨 BIG WIN FOR LOCAL COMMUNITIES 🚨
Andover, New Jersey has canceled a proposed data center project and passed a complete ban.
COMMUNITIES ARE WINNING
Nearly $20 billion in data center projects — cancelled.
Town councils voted out. Officials recalled. Hard caps won on water, noise, and pollution.
The American people are pushing back — and winning. This is the fight.

Amazon is building an $11 billion AI data campus in Indiana.
It’ll use as much electricity as roughly 1 MILLION homes.
And about 300 million gallons of water every year.
That’s just ONE facility.
Today is a notable day in the bass world: the birthday of @mcbridesworld
I had the pleasure of chatting with him at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem back in 2019. As you can see, Mr. McBride made for good company.
Happy birthday, young man.

My colleague @Tammy_K_Clark and I joined Jesse from the @COB_Podcast while we were in Kansas. Whether or not you support AI, communities deserve honest conversations about the human and environmental impacts.
This mini-documentary podcast drops within the week. I'll share once it drops; in the meantime, here's a first look!

You’re looking at thousands of studs that have been jammed into the ground, on what was previously prime farmland, as they continue to build out Cider Solar in Elba and Oakfield, New York.
The studs will hold the Chinese-made solar panels that were constructed and shipped with fossil fuels and rare earth minerals.
Cider Solar is a massive 500MW industrial complex that will destroy 4,000 acres by the time they’re done.
Since commercial solar only generates at 15% of its annual potential in Upstate NY (actually closer to 10% in Western NY), this 500MW complex will only generate 75MW of power when it’s all said and done.
Thousands of acres gone. Soil compacted. Runoff reported. Chemicals sprayed to suppress vegetation. Animals displaced in every direction. And the history and culture of these towns destroyed forever.
All for our governor, greedy politicians, and subsidies for foreign corporations.

Yesterday’s petition was for referendum on data centers in Coweta County. Our county showed up! In this clip I said 2 in the county, I meant 2 in my small city. There are 10 data centers trying to be built in the county.
Spacex mission from S1: “To build the systems and technologies necessary to make life multiplanetary, to understand the true nature of the universe, and to extend the light of consciousness to the stars.” What‘s the distinction between ‘life” and “consciousness”?
You know, someone like me with background in tech and math would look more favorably on AI/Deep learning tech if those promoting it weren't such assholes. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that for no reason they scared the shit out the average American with predictions of mass unemployment and the end of civilization. Now there is mass opposition to building the data center infrastructure they need 🤣🤣🤣 Watching the assholes get hoisted by their own petards is always gratifying.
NY Dems banned fracking over “groundwater risks”… but approved horizontal drilling for Horseshoe Solar that just punctured an aquifer under the Genesee River.
Drilled 7 times. Hit water 400ft down — 50-100 gpm flooding out. Wells impacted. Prime farmland gone. Burial grounds disturbed. All for subsidies and Chinese panels.
Pure CLCPA hypocrisy. Repeal it. All-of-the-above energy now.
Why are Utah's lawmakers approving huge datacenters like this?
There is no good that can come from this once it is constructed
@BasedMikeLee, What is going on in your state?
