Team members successfully retrieved the LOFTID heat shield from the Pacific Ocean Thursday am.With the heat shield on board, the recovery vessel will next head to retrieve LOFTID’s ejectable data module.
LOFTID located in the Pacific Ocean 500 miles off the coast of Hawaii. Congratulations! Upon reentry, LOFTID faced temperatures that reached 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit and hit speeds of nearly 18,000 miles per hour.
LIFTOFF! The final @ULALaunch Atlas V rocket to soar from @SLDelta30 is on its way to deliver two separate missions to Earth orbit: #JPSS2 and #LOFTID.
Artemis on hold. The engine will be fixed, and Artemis will fly. Churchill said:

Remembering the crew of STS-107.
On February 1, 2003, the crew was lost when Columbia broke apart during re-entry. Astronauts David Brown, Rick Husband, Laurel Clark, Kalpana Chawla, Michael Anderson, William McCool, and Ilan Ramon were on board.
