@hannahmoloney@SchoolsWeek I'm conducting research with UCL into the SENCO role retention crisis. If you are currently (or have previously been) a SENCo, please consider completing a ten-minute survey here: https://t.co/1HuThDWjZE Thank you!
A superb article from @SchoolsWeek on the SENCO workload situation, again validating the experience of SENCOs on the front line of this SEND crisis. A crisis, however, is an opportunity for change. Do check it out. https://t.co/ujMLqW9gWg
If you hold the NASENCo qualification (whether or not you currently work as a SENCo), please consider completing a ten-minute survey here: https://t.co/1HuThDWRPc Thank you!

A big issue in reducing school exclusion is whether there's a knock-on effect on student achievement. This study from Chicago Public Schools finds that restorative practices decreased suspensions and arrests, with no negative impact on student achievement: https://t.co/p7qLhw6OuW
NEW POST: An inquiry by @NAOorguk has found @educationgovuk has no clear SEND plan and should consider “whole-system reform” to incentivise mainstream inclusion. @catrionamoore13@CaptainK77 break the report down for you… https://t.co/zO5o7ZCO10
🚨The special needs system is on the brink of collapse. The government's spending watchdog will publish its own likely damning investigation this week
But we’ve been chronicling the collapse for years. And I just want to set out how seriously bad things are … (mega 🧵)

Maslow Before Bloom
Before the lessons and the tests,
Before the grades that deem who’s best,
We must remember first to see,
The roots beneath the learning tree.
A child hungry, tired, or cold,
Cannot grasp the stories told.
No formula or history chart,
Can reach a wounded, aching heart.
Safety, love, a place to rest,
Come first before we learn or test.
For minds can’t flourish, dream, or bloom,
In a heart that’s trapped in gloom.
So feed the spirit, calm the fears,
Dry the eyes, and lend your ears.
Build the trust and light the way,
Then knowledge will find room to stay.
When Maslow’s needs are met with care,
Then Bloom can follow anywhere.
But first, we nurture, heal, and tend,
For true growth starts where basics mend.
