Last week, our Director General Dr Jide Idris chaired a high-level stakeholder meeting on preparedness for Ebola Disease. The current outbreak, caused by Bundibugyo virus, has led to the declaration of a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by @who
Heightened preparedness efforts include surveillance at Points of Entry, community-based surveillance, laboratory network readiness and risk communication and community engagement.
We have developed Standard Operating Procedures, protocols and Case Definitions to guide experts and the general public.
While there is no confirmed case of Ebola in Nigeria, we remain vigilant and continue to work closely with relevant government agencies and partners to protect the health of Nigerians.
We advise the public to seek information from authorised sources such as the NCDC website.

In Week 19 of 2026, Nigeria recorded sustained #LassaFever activity, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
A Total of 172 new suspected cases were reported, along with 17 new confirmed cases and 1 new confirmed death. Additionally, 23 states and 108 LGAs were affected.
These figures highlight the need for continued vigilance, early detection, and strict preventive measures.
