“Ultimately, the recall organizers failed to appreciate that Ward 6 residents are thoughtful people looking for real solutions to our toughest problems, and they don’t respond to the fear and division we see play out every day on the national stage,” Allen says in his statement.”
Between the recall committee and the outside spending group supporting it, Allen's opponents spent about $26 per petition signature they garnered. It wasn't nearly enough.

The people who oppress our communities are not welcome in our communities.
DC, no matter where you are tonight, bring noisemakers, pots and pans, GoGo on the stereo, whistles, chants, or any other way to MAKE NOISE so Trump hears we want FEDERAL FORCES OUT NOW — FREE DC.
@HelenThurn@TeahCartel@BrooklynFlowe15 What causes you to think money sent means the grant was rejected? The money was sent so it clearly was not rejected.
Allen and his allies note that the recallers got dinged for a variety of campaign finance fines, justifying their complaints about how the recall was managed.
It's cold comfort all these months later, but could be meaningful as recalls gain popularity:

We told you @recallallen, @DCGOP@MakeDCSafe were all colluding.
Now @Vote4DC has confirmed this with fines.
And @recallallen still could not get the signatures they needed for their recall after breaking campaign finance laws and pooling resources.
A year ago at this time, Charles Allen was facing a well-financed recall effort. Now that it's fizzled out, he feels vindicated.
"We obviously came out of it stronger than we went into it,” he argues, cultivating donors and getting in front of voters. What will it mean for 2026?
New: Mayor Bowser and other politicians have spent years insisting DC needs more cops. But an eagerly awaited study of MPD staffing by @ODCA_DC says (surprise, surprise) there's no evidence to support that.
They suggested alternatives. Will anyone listen?

Progress continues with Southeast Branch Library renovation. Crews have been working hard to support the walls & install cross bracing on south & west sides! This helps make room for some of the exciting new additions coming to the branch, while preserving the historic building.
PPADMV has long endorsed DC Ward 6 Councilmember @cmcharlesallen, an ardent champion for sexual + reproductive freedom. We were confident this dubious recall effort would fail + now it has. It was a ridiculous distraction from his critical work of fighting for health equity in DC
I want to give the biggest thank you to our supporters, donors and volunteers. I know there was another campaign to donate to that was probably a lot more effective, but we rocked TF out of those pole signs.
And thank you to the recall for being so awful, that people flocked to me and encouraged me. I scored a new bestie and whole thing introduced me to so many great neighbors.

While you celebrate, remember that their goal is to kill our democracy here because it works so well and that is a threat to them for whatever reason. They literally have their own troll farm to push their agenda here and on @Nextdoor
