Executive Engineer of Sircilla Irrigation Division Caught Red-Handed with Bribe

ARRAM REDDY AMARENDER REDDY, EXECUTIVE ENGINEER, IRRIGATION, SIRCILLA, RAJANNA SIRCILLA DISTRICT — now in the ACB net.

On the night of May 9, 2025, around 8:00 PM, ACB Karimnagar officials caught the accused officer red-handed at his residence in Vidyaranyapuri, Karimnagar). He had just accepted a bribe of Rs. 60,000 from a contractor. The bribe was demanded to sanction a pending bill of Rs. 50 lakhs related to a check dam construction between Avunuru and Agraram villages in Venkatapur mandal, Rajanna Sircilla — a project completed nearly a year ago.

In a desperate attempt to mislead officials, the officer stuffed the bribe cash into his son’s T-shirt and flung it over the compound wall. ACB sleuths, however, recovered the tainted currency from behind the house, and the T-shirt portion that touched the notes tested positive in chemical verification.

This wasn’t his first time. The accused officer had earlier extorted Rs. 4 lakh from the same complainant for partial bill clearance and now sought another Rs. 75,000 for releasing the remaining payment.

He has been arrested and will be presented before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Karimnagar. Investigation is ongoing. The identity of the complainant remains confidential for safety reasons.
