#India excelled at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026, held in Bucaramanga, Colombia. All five Indian students bagged Gold medals. The students were:

Neeru Dhanda Wins India's First-Ever Gold Medal in Women's Trap at ISSF World Cup

Nb Sub Neeru Dhanda of the Army Marksmanship Unit scripted history at the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup, Lonato, Italy and became the first Indian to win a Gold🥇 in Shotgun (Trap).

She delivered a stellar performance, scoring 121/125 in qualifications and 27/30 in the finals, finishing ahead of world champions from France and Spain.

Every monsoon, Surha Taal expands to nearly 25,000 hectares. Migratory birds arrive from across Central Asia. Fish multiply. Floodwaters find a home that is not a human settlement. This is what a living river basin looks like.

Namami Gange has always understood that you cannot clean a river without protecting what breathes around it - the wetlands, the sanctuaries, the village lakes that have held water and life for centuries.

A century as far as Ramsar sites are concerned!

Glad that the Jai Prakash Narayan Bird Sanctuary (Surha Tal) in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh has been designated as India’s 100th Ramsar site. This wetland is rich in avifaunal biodiversity, attracting several migratory and resident birds.

India’s unwavering commitment to protecting our natural surroundings and wetlands in particular is clearly reflected in this feat.

Over the years, efforts to conserve and rejuvenate wetlands have been strengthened through greater community participation, science, innovation and awareness initiatives. These endeavours are helping preserve biodiversity, secure ecological balance and create a greener future for coming generations.
