A "sampler" of all my favourite techniques, some ancient (like the surface couched gold work of the Anglo Saxons) and some modern (the techniques I have invented myself, such as the "floating embroidery"). What's your favouite element? #embroidery
Well, here's an encounter! I LOVE long-tailed tits, they are such cheeky, gregarious little birds, always chattering away to each other ... and perhaps strangers, too!

Our cheeky little European birds are delightful, but. for sheer magnificence the Greater Bird of Paradise, from New Guinea, surely takes the prize!

My focus has always been vintage photos of Los Angeles, usually up to the late 1950s but y'day I came across this extraordinary photos of the Hollywood sign. Taken by Ted VanCleave in 2015, it gives us a rare opportunity to experience the iconic sign close up. #LosAngelesHistory

For centuries, dozens of passages from Camden's Annals have been invisible to the naked eye – until now.
Through the use of new imaging technology, we've been able to uncover hidden text within this 400 year manuscript: the first official account of Queen Elizabeth I's reign.
Tomorrow's the big day and I am so excited!
William Camden was one of Elizabethan England's most famous scholars and has been so understudied in recent years.
On his 400th death anniversary, I cannot wait for our incredible conference to do his legacy justice! See you soon ✨️
Happy birthday Jane Austen! 🥳 Here’s my embroidery called The Walking Party that was inspired by reading her books… The tiny figures are no more than 15mm tall!🧵📚🔍#stitchedart#literature#inspired#thesewingsongbird
Carrying on our theme of 17th-century embroidery details, here is a charming stag. This stag and the unicorn we posted yesterday are a pair, stitched on the same piece of needlework. The stag is done in raised work, its body and antlers slightly elevated from the silk ground
Je suis tellement cinéphile que je ne vais même plus au cinéma voir des films français : je fais directement des repas de famille interminables où tout le monde s’engueule en parlant du passé.
