"But as always, there's light at the end of every tunnel. And for me, that light comes from hope. From knowing that the climate movement is alive and well.

We've seen so much evidence of that over the last two weeks, as we've campaigned hard both inside the halls of COP29, and around the world. And I know we are already looking ahead."

It's not as if we needed any reminders of what is at stake, nor who bears the brunt of #UnnaturalDisasters most often, but the irony of #COP29 opening as another typhoon strikes the Philippines...

Last Monday, as #COP29 opens in Azerbaijan 🇦🇿, the Philippines was hit by its 5th typhoon in 3 weeks. 

With 32,000 evacuated, relief efforts are struggling. Wealthy nations at #COP29 must #PayUp 💸 for damages & immediately #PowerUp a fossil-free 🌏.

The COP must ‘limit & prepare for climate change, & raise global ambition to tackle the issue’.
However, this is the 2nd year in a row the BBC has revealed alleged wrongdoing by the host government.
This only strengthens our resolve, & makes the #ClimateMovement more critical.

We grieve, but we keep going. That's got to be the mantra for our times. Holding on to hope as we look to leadership from the frontlines, from communities coming together to build a better future... no matter who sits in what house.

Next week, COP29 will start in Azerbaijan. Countries will have the chance to double down on climate ambition, and Joe Biden can still keep U.S. commitments to stop financing fossil fuels. We grieve, and we keep going.
