Are Sri Lankans active or passive citizens? Are we more driven to shape our future due to the crisis? What motivates our political engagement? Listen to the @SLBarometer XSpaces for this interesting conversation with @aarudpra and Mario Gomez
#lka#politicalparticipation
Looking forward to an interesting conversation with Mario Gomez and @aarudpra. I will be sharing some of the latest findings from the @SLBarometer survey on key indicators such as levels of active citizenship, political participation and personal freedoms. #lka#politics
1/ Key insights from the @SLBarometer latest survey: Despite shifting priorities due to the economic crisis, reconciliation remains relevant and important to Sri Lankans. #lka#reconciliaon
2/ While post-war needs and priorities are diverse based on lived experiences, there are also shared priorities across ethnic groups. Notably, an emerging and prevalent economic dimension to reconciliation should not be overlooked. #lka#reconciliation#SLeconomics
Notes on the N/NE vote seem to miss a key factor - language.
As someone who checked NPP/ AKD's media fairly often to try and understand, almost nothing was accessible in Tamil.
You want a people's vote? Communicate in a language they/ we understand.
The @SLBarometer findings over the past few years show that political efficacy of Sri Lankans are moderate and active citizenship levels very low - explains the high absent and invalid voters as reported by @ManthriLK. Lets hope this trend is reversed this year. #lka#elections
@thushponweera 💯 agree with you @thushponweera this is how ppl minimise some identities by trying to force a common identity but not giving space to celebrate and accept other identities that are different to ours. The illustration is beautiful btw… and so is the storyline. Well done!
Happening today… I will share Sri Lankan’s perceptions on Equality of Opportunity drawing from SLB national surveys. Looking forward to an interesting discussion with @dhananath and @gayanihurulle
It’s time for another deep dive into what makes Sri Lanka tick. How does equality of opportunity impact social cohesion in an island nation steeped in post-conflict baggage? @dhananath , @gayanihurulle & @NatashaDS90 discuss.

Here’s a #throwback to our last TwitterSpace discussion that shared some valuable takes on how trust is a vital component of social cohesion and reconciliation in post-conflict Sri Lanka. Listen to the whole thing - https://t.co/v1Bneu16lh
Our hope is for a future Sri Lanka where our children can say “yes” to this question @SLBarometer@PPalansuriya
Also my proudest moment yet - showing my daughter the work I do 🥲
Ppl ask us all the time “why are we still talking about reconciliation&the war?” This right here is exactly why! @bfonseka 🔥
Some @SLBarometer findings on display this wknd@ GalleFace will show why we need to keep advcting for justice, inclusion & equality even 15years post-war
A couple of days ago, citizens of this country tried to remember their dead, and they couldn't. Is everyone equal in this country? Next year marks 15 years since the end of the war. Have we addressed the root cause of the conflict?

This! Feedback like this makes all the challenges that comes with this kind of work well worth it! Makes me want to keep doing this work! @SLBarometer#70yearsoffriendship
@DMedawatte It gives perspective in 3D. It's one thing to read, debate and argue online about ethnicity, division, reconciliation...but to see the numbers in multicolor, painstaking research making us soul search, and stories of normal people who were affected in so many ways...
Hey SL Tweeps, this is a really powerful, emotionally impactful experience happening at Galle Face Green starting today. Honestly, every Sri Lankan should visit. It’s free. Please come.
1st Dec - 3-9pm
2nd Dec - 3-9pm
3rd Dec - 10am - 6pm
Come visit us! The findings of the SLB public opinion survey on #reconciliation will be on display. I’ll be there on the 1st of Dec to give guided tours for anyone interested 😊 see you then!
I enjoyed this convo with Dr. Nireka who shared insights about interpersonal, social & political trust in SL, & Deepanjalie who made us really think about the trust we have in media & the role they play in influencing social & political trust. @verite_tma#lka@SLBarometer
This was an excellent discussion. If you missed it, do listen to the recording. Much to reflect on about ourselves and what influences our levels of trust in our government and each other.
