Mikel Arteta confirms all of Ben White, Jurrien Timber, Christian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie are fine ahead of the game against Brighton tomorrow.
The four defenders are expected to train today.
🔴 Bernd Leno's Arsenal career was shaped by competition.
Čech.
Martínez.
Ramsdale.
Three different goalkeepers who, at different moments, shaped the story around the German No.1.
But before Arsenal, Leno had already built a serious reputation in Germany.
His journey began at Stuttgart, where he had initially played as a midfielder before moving between the posts as a child.
Leverkusen eventually gave him his professional opportunity.
In 2011, still only 19, Leno was sent to Bayer Leverkusen on loan.
Within weeks, he was playing Champions League football.
At 19 years and 193 days, he became the youngest goalkeeper to appear in the competition at the time.
The loan became permanent.
And the goalkeeper kept developing.
Seven seasons at Leverkusen produced 304 appearances and 100 clean sheets.
Six of those seven Bundesliga campaigns ended with Leverkusen finishing fifth or higher.
By the summer of 2018, Arsenal were prepared to pay around £20 million for him.
At 26, Leno was moving into another major chapter.
His competitive Arsenal debut came against Vorskla Poltava in the Europa League in September 2018.
Arsenal won 4-2.
Then came the opportunity he had been waiting for.
Petr Čech suffered an injury against Watford on 29 September.
Leno took over.
Watford came to the Emirates.
Leno kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 Arsenal victory.
And one save stood out.
A dangerous volley was heading toward the corner.
Leno stretched across his goal and pushed it away.
It was the sort of moment that made the transition look natural.
The German was becoming Arsenal's No.1.
The 2019/20 season brought another step forward.
Leno was voted second in Arsenal's Player of the Season award, behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
His performances had become one of the more consistent features of an Arsenal side going through another period of transition.
Then came the moment that changed everything.
20 June 2020.
Brighton.
Arsenal were leading when Leno rushed from his goal to challenge Neal Maupay.
The collision left the goalkeeper with a serious knee injury.
His season was over.
Emiliano Martínez took his place.
And suddenly, the goalkeeper who had spent years waiting for his opportunity had his own opportunity to make history.
Martínez played through the remainder of the campaign.
Arsenal won the FA Cup.
He had played the decisive knockout matches.
He had earned the trust of the supporters.
But when the new season began, Arsenal still regarded Leno as their established No.1.
The German returned.
Martínez left.
And Leno reclaimed his position.
For a while, everything seemed settled again.
Then Arsenal signed Aaron Ramsdale in the summer of 2021.
At first, Leno remained involved.
But Ramsdale's performances quickly changed the situation.
Arteta eventually chose the new signing as his first choice.
The gloves had changed hands.
Leno made only nine appearances for Arsenal in 2021/22, with four of them coming in the Premier League.
Four years after signing from Leverkusen, his Arsenal chapter was coming to an end.
Fulham signed him in August 2022 for a reported fee of around £8 million.
He left North London with 125 appearances and 37 clean sheets.
One FA Cup winners' medal.
A Player of the Season runner-up finish.
A serious knee injury.
A return to the starting XI.
Another goalkeeper taking his place.
And a reputation built through years of making difficult saves look routine.
Leno had played under Unai Emery.
He had continued through Mikel Arteta's transition.
He had lost his place through injury, watched Martínez seize the opportunity, regained his position, and eventually lost it again to Ramsdale.
That was the strange rhythm of his Arsenal career.
Not failure.
Not uninterrupted dominance.
Competition.
Again and again.
And whenever the gloves were his, Leno gave Arsenal a goalkeeper capable of producing spectacular moments.
The double save against Tottenham.

And there’s another important piece of context.
Arteta didn't inherit an Arsenal side that had been competing for the title the season before. He had a completely different situation to deal with.
Maresca, meanwhile, has been backed with €526m in his first summer alone.
So if Maresca finishes this season without winning a single trophy, can we call it a failure ?
Stephen Smith (CEO of Kitman Labs) explains why Arsenal have so many injuries at full back 😳:
"Full-back is certainly one of the most demanding positions on the field and the data backs it up.
Distance covered over 90 minutes is generally topped by central midfielders but the honest picture is demand for a full-back isn’t about total mileage, it is about the type of running – repeated, explosive sprints up and down the same channel, sudden changes in direction and movement, recovering at pace only to bomb forward again a minute later.
That kind of repeated, high-speed loading is what tends to produce the soft tissue and muscular issues we see cropping up.
So for Arsenal, the staff and those players, it is about very specific load management to overcome the accumulation of those efforts in a match. It’s a huge toll on the body.
There is the risk of significantly more muscle fibre damage doing things like that because it is not the distance that makes the role so demanding, it is the repeated explosive efforts that can cause much more wear and tear."

Fabian Hurzeler vs Mikel Arteta - how it escalated
It was all respectful at first. When Hurzeler took over in 2024, Arteta called him a fantastic coach and said the job he is doing at Brighton is really, really good.
It blew up this March.
Before Arsenal 1-0 Brighton on March 4th, Hurzeler called for clear rules on time-wasting and accused Arsenal of killing the game at set-pieces.
He said: "When Arsenal has a corner and they are leading, sometimes they spend over one minute just to take a corner."
He claimed Arsenal spend up to 15 minutes a game just organising corners and free-kicks, and said fans who pay a lot of money want to see a football event, not 50 minutes where the ball is in play.
After the 1-0 loss, with Bukayo Saka scoring the early winner, Hurzeler went further in his press conference.
He said only one team tried to play football, that Arsenal make their own rules, and that he would never be the kind of manager who tries to win in that way.
He also called out David Raya for going down injured three times, and added: "Did you really enjoy this football game? No chance. Apart from Arsenal fans, nobody enjoyed it." He said supporters deserve better.
Arteta's response was ice cold.
He said: "What a surprise. You just go back to the previous games and you will find a lot of comments like this always."
He added: "I love my players. I think they love our players. Every time they talk about our players, I think they are the most loved ones in the country."
When asked if he cares what other managers think, he said: "Care? Yeah. Depends. On the comments. And the purpose of that."
Then came the U-turn.
Two days later, Hurzeler admitted he had texted Arteta privately. He said he told him he has huge respect for everyone at Arsenal, and that Arteta is one of the best managers in the world for him, he is a role model.
He said: "I did not want to create that noise, I just wanted to make my point about how I was feeling. It is important to say your opinion and not hide your opinion. Even when you are a smaller club."
Arteta replied: "No, that is a personal conversation. That says a lot of positive things about him as a person. I appreciate that."

With Zubi’s passing ability, being comfortable on the ball will make him absolutely unplayable!
