@FunnyMcLaughtr@PaulRoundy1@ProfStrachan@AlbertKallio You mean someone who is a scapegoat for people on the more moderate side of AGW issue for making a terrible first BOE prediction?
How did the ice-free summer Arctic turn out in 2013, 16, 20? If he's such a good source, his predictions surely must've been compatible with reality?
@Met4CastUK Clearly the data is smoothed due to less confidence and lower resolution in the pre-19th century data.
If individual weather station existed, I wouldn't be surprised if several European regions would have reported much warmer than this chart wants you to believe.
@bren_geo@Met4CastUK This paper addresses points made by usual suspects predicting more extreme cold during winters due to same purported mechanism:

@bren_geo@Met4CastUK Wavier jet stream as a purported mechanism for more cold (and hot) extremes is a fringe hypothesis that is shared by a small minority of activist "scientists".
It's not directly predicted by majority of the climate models and only a fool would use Google for a definitive answer
@TokaMG78 Do not let this distract you from the fact a black Cambridge academic was proven to engage in plagiarism. Considering whatever Hitler did was very innocuous compared to this black fraud, you should tell your mom you now feel better about yourself being only as bad as Hitler.
@ryankatzrosene The lower-than-average wildfire burn year is caused by the same weather pattern that makes Western Europe susceptible: high SLP in Europe and above average cyclogenesis in Russia.
This is forced by internal variability and only slightly enhanced by modest upward temperature trend
@histoireclimat Climate has improved a lot in Latvia, yes. We don't get extremely cold winters and very crappy summers anymore. Last winter was still too cold for my liking though and very costly, and climate models are encouraging by showing it will warm even more!
@Daaanvdb Tmax warming more than the Tmean is almost unique to Western Europe and is mostly a result of anti-pollution measures. Artificial suppression of Tmax due to pollution in 1950s-1990s is clearly driving this divergence.
@AlphEatsCats@WHPAADDD@PaulRoundy1@Daaanvdb@SirGeogy The thing is this conversation is happening in the broader context of what OP posted, so even it doesn't necessarily reflect what you believe, the reader of this conversation will be given some general information related to the whole discussion.
@AlphEatsCats@PaulRoundy1@Daaanvdb@SirGeogy Indeed, we should mention the names and surnames of the scientists who come up with the most exaggerated predictions that were proven wrong and never ever entertain the thought of listening to them again.
I don't care what Peter Wadhams has to say about sea ice anymore and proud!
@AlphEatsCats@PaulRoundy1@Daaanvdb@SirGeogy In the grand scheme of things, people like S.Rahmstorf and J.Hansen trump the likes of Zeke and Rohde in popularity, even though every person mentioned there is a scientist, but only the latter reflect what most people in scientific community think.
@AlphEatsCats@PaulRoundy1@Daaanvdb@SirGeogy There are good and honest science communicators among scientists with a balanced approach, there are however people who select only a subset of studies either exaggerating or minimizing the impact of climate change.
@Daaanvdb@Bud_Williams81 What are the odds of loudest alarmist voices in science communication being obtuse now?
Obviously, I'm not referring to Zeke, Rohde, etc., but Hansen, Simons, Rahmstorf and other lolcows, who also regularly spew nonsense outside of the so-called "climate consensus".
@Daaanvdb@Bud_Williams81 Peter Wadhams was a scientist.
It is true his expectations of BOE were much ahead of general scientific climate community, but it proves so-called climate "experts" can indeed be staggeringly obtuse at least in science communication.
