I know GWASing everything is ridiculed, but finding genetic variation associated with how vividly you can imagine colors or sounds, experience the passage of time, detect agency, or find patterns in noisy events could provide some biological insights into conscious experience.
I’ve spoken with flat Earthers and those who say it is round. I’ve listened to both sides, and in my sensible, centrist, scientific opinion, it is in fact a cube.
On the Huberman Lab podcast, I’ve always gone issue-by-issue on health & science, spoken to experts w/a range of takes & presented where I see the center of (data) mass pointed. I’ll do the same with @CBSNews
Huberman Lab podcast remains independent.

Just to make it clear to people who don’t get the point. We shouldn’t be talking about or worrying about how to fund journals. We should be plotting how to get rid of them entirely.
NIH is inviting research applications to support the Autism Data Science Initiative which seeks to explore causes of autism. Initiative data will be protected and secure in compliance with privacy and confidentiality requirements. Submission deadline 6/27. https://t.co/ifZ9x7MHdf
what makes for a stronger research proposal?
A) a research question for which a positive outcome would would be important
B) a research question for which either a positive or negative outcome would be informative
Heading to #ASHG24 and looking for a postdoc position?
Interested in genetic epidemiology, specifically gene x environment in diverse pediatric cohorts?
I'll be here all week so find me to talk about opportunities with myself and @priya4genes at @jhugeneticepi in Baltimore!
The @NIH is looking for basic research studies worth replicating and will pay to get it replicated. If have studies you think need or should be replicated and have current NIH funding, consider applying.
Are you a #biomedical researcher interested in replicating your studies? Check out the new #FundingOpportunity from the Common Fund to provide support for preparatory activities to enable third-party replication of experiments. Learn more: https://t.co/1uKT2yMavw
Join NHGRI on October 23 at 12 p.m. ET for our webinar, “Complex Trait Genetics Webinar Series: Re-analysis of Variance and Re-analysis of Causes.” https://t.co/NZFRl85xQe
interesting, but not too surprising, to note that more direct measure of brain-behavior traits (e.g., cognition, fluid intelligence) are less genetically confounded than more downstream measures (e.g., school grades, educational attainment).
Our lab group is recruiting for a new Postdoc to join us. We are looking for someone to work on projects in Deep Learning and/or Spatial Population Genetics. Please share.
