@Ali_Aminian_MD@WorldObesity Agree but this (stock) image only depicts a small percentage of those that should seek treatment for obesity. There are millions that will see this picture and say, “I’m not him,” then not seek treatment.

[From the perspective of a simple obesity medicine physician]
🚨Metabolic surgery remains the most effective treatment for obesity.‼
👉🏻Greater efficacy and durability, better comorbidity management, higher comorbidity remission rates, only treatment with reliable data for ⬇️ in adiposity-related MACE, cirrhosis, ESRD, cancer, and mortality.
What’s more? It’s more cost-effective than newer medical therapies.
Simply, surgery is grossly underutilized. If you know the literature on obesity, this is the only conclusion you can make.
Anyone blaming the development of obesity on the consumption of a single macronutrient category or another singular cause means they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Avoid these people. 🤦🏾♀️ #MedTwitter
Last week I performed my 3000th surgery since training. I feel blessed to have contributed to the betterment of so many lives. I look forward to continue to fulfill my calling.
“Eat less and move more” is not the cure for obesity. Obesity is a disease that requires life-long care and a broad range of science-based treatments. It’s time to change the way we care about obesity! #OCW2023
Dear Physicians,
You took an oath to do no harm.

It’s time to get comfortable talking about Bariatric Surgery.
