Normally a diesel, mogas or jet cargo takes only 14 days to sail from Singapore to Botany Bay, 15 days if from Ulsan, South Korea.
Now if Singapore refineries are not running enough crude and South Korea is imposing mandatory product export caps, Australia needs to find supply elsewhere as the country is 90% reliant on imports with only 2 refineries online domestically.
USGC is generally long products. So the supply from USGC is kind of a no-brainer in the current climate. But the time taken for the voyage from Houston to Botany Bay is 32 days. So existing stock inventories need to hold till resupply comes.
ARA on the other hand is typically long mogas. So it would be interesting to watch the gasoline arb between Houston vs Rotterdam into Botany Bay going forward if Asia just cannot supply Australia. However it takes 42 days for Rotterdam cargoes to travel to Botany Bay via the Cape.
Essentially more risk on longer haul voyages and higher freight costs for the new supply points to keep Australia wet.
See attached freight chart from @SpartaCommo for the Houston --> Botany Bay route.

#China sits at the center of global manufacturing. Many countries depend on Chinese imports for critical industrial and consumer supply chains.
People posting their shock/surprise that Australia only has 18 days of jetfuel cover. Where have you been for the last 15 years?
The current level isn't a sudden decline over last two weeks. Counterintuitively, stocks are slightly higher than they would've been had the last two weeks not happened.
Trump's $38B Indonesia power move!
President Donald Trump just redrew the trade map of Southeast Asia. Indonesia- the world's largest nickel producer--is now wide open to American business. Under the new Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART), Indonesia has scrapped tariffs on 99% of US exports, from Boeing aircraft to wheat and semiconductors. * By securing a $10B annual deal for the Grasberg copper mine and locking in critical mineral access, the U.S. is directly challenging China's monopoly on the EV and Al supply chain. With a $23B trade deficit on the line. is this the end of the "losing streak"' for American workers?
102 years ago Today, Aidan de Brune completed his walk around Australia's perimeter, becoming the first person in recorded history to walk around the perimeter of Australia, unaccompanied and unassisted.
He left Sydney on September 20, 1921 and walked dor two and a half years, arriving back in Sydney on 4 March 1924 after a total of 16,190 kilometers (10,060 miles).
After his walk around Australia, Aidan de Brune settled in Sydney and began writing serialised mystery stories for newspapers.
A restructure of Qantas Group's Singapore operations. Won't see intra-Asia especially after the closure of Jetstar Asia, but there is a good QF operation in SIN - its largest base outside of Australia.
The Qantas base will in a way replace the Jetstar Airways base which they plan to close. There are more QF routes and flights (~50 weekly) from SIN compared to Jetstar Airways (x7 MEL, x5 PER, and the daily SIN-DPS run).
Those A380s that they plan to use more on SYD-SIN need a lot of cabin crew. Plus its helps when they have the SIN-LHR A380 run there as well.
650 cabin crew based in SIN in five years.

A niche but crucial part of the oil market is being rocked by a huge bet from a South Korean tycoon who has amassed a large share of the tanker market, with help from one of the industryโs wealthiest men.
Over the past month or two, the Sinokor group has quickly moved to buy or charter a significant number of ships and now controls roughly 120 very-large crude carriers, according to estimates from several senior industry executives. Some marketveterans said the huge position amassed by the company, overseen by shipowner Ga-Hyun Chung, is unprecedented in their experience.

To me, Vietnam's jump is huge... shows how fast travel's booming here. But why is Asia-Pacific owning 9/10 spots? Will we ever see a non-Asian route crack the top?
