One of the best things I've done is sharing the Elephants model... lots of people around the world have started their own after reading this post, and knowing that fills my 💚

What little things will I do every day, for the next 3,650 days to bend the arc of my life?
Every kid that grew up with a landline telephone had to have a phrase they used when picking up.
Mine: "Hello, who is it? It's Nicholas here."
Etched deep into the grooves of my brain.
Yaxel Lenderborg on his NBA debut and guarding Luka: "I got to see what the NBA is like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul baiting, lot of praying to the ref. Interesting first game for me... Being in there firsthand, just watching all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect. That was awful"
Transcript of this soundbite:
"Yeah, it was interesting. I got to see what the NBA is like, man. Lot of flopping, lot of foul baiting, lot of praying to the ref. Interesting first game for me, for sure.
I had a lot of respect for him (Luka). You know, just watching. I didn't really watch the NBA much, I just watched highlights. Seeing him, you know, kill people all the time. But then being in there firsthand, just watching all the whining and complaining, I lost all respect, man. Like that was awful.
Like me getting frustrated, it's not about the foul being called, it's about him complaining the entire game. And then you get the foul call, congratulations bro. And then you talk to me like you did something great, bro? Come on, dog. That's just weak. It kinda threw me off for a little while, cause you know, like I said, I had so much respect for him. Gone man, gone.
I was telling him he sucks, he can't score on me. You talking and you can't score on me. I said it the whole game. I said a couple cuss words obviously, you know, that's why I got the technical and all that. But I was letting him know, because he was laughing and talking all this because of that one foul call.
His only bucket on me was a banker from half court. Like I know that it's a team sport. You know, he had 28pts on us as a team. Me, I took my matchup personally. Tried not to get caught on the fouls. Tried my best. I was thinking about playing him with my hands behind my back to see if that worked, probably would've still got a foul call."

Hi, I'm Felix. I'm an eng lead working on Claude. I love watching people take flight and do things they never thought possible.
We often describe that as "being more ambitious" when using AI, which is tricky advice to follow. I wrote a tutorial:

If you spend any time around youth basketball you will notice that with the Ja 3s Nike delivered an absolute monster hit… at the exact time Ja’s brand went into a tailspin.
Feels like a missed opportunity for a genuine franchise.
Reminder not having a long commute is one of the biggest life upgrades. You never normalize against this, like you would a very good or very bad event (the commuting paradox, described in the Scandinavian Journal of Economics). Moving closer to work or going remote is worth it
Christian Horner says Red Bull’s car evolved around Max Verstappen’s abnormal ability to handle an unstable rear, leaving other drivers unable to cope
“Max is tremendously demanding for what he wants, and he has a skill that is abnormal. He demands more and more front end from the car, and he can just cope with whatever the rear does.
“In pursuit of that goal, to give him that tool, inevitably your engineering department, your tools, your development focus goes down the route of creating that characteristic in a car, which others found difficult to handle.
“Some of these drivers were arriving too soon, and I didn’t completely agree with the speed at which they were arriving into Red Bull Racing.
“I think Alex was too soon. I think Gasly was too soon. I think Lawson was too soon. These guys needed more time to evolve and develop. Look how long George Russell had in a difficult Williams before getting that call-up. They’re more rounded by the time they arrive.”
Announcing Signalful Analysis
I watch a lot of podcasts. While it’s fun to summarize them for Signalful, what is even more powerful is to synthesize and analyze points of view across podcasts.
And that’s what we’re announcing with Signalful Analysis, a weekly feature of @signalfulnews .
Each Analysis takes one question the best builders answer differently, lays out the evidence on each side, and gives our verdict.
The first one: should your AI app rent its models or build its own?
