Reaction from lawyer Tom Mars, a veteran of NCAA cases: "In 40 years as a lawyer, I've never been as shocked and surprised by a court ruling." That sums the reaction on the college sports landscape today.
Brendan Sorsby admitted to wagering at least $90,000 across more than 9,000 bets during his college career, including bets involving Indiana football while he was a member of the Hoosiers in 2022.
For the current outlook to be that he'll play in 2026 after serving just a two-game suspension is stunning.
The Sorsby ruling is truly disastrous. It will be appealed, of course, because one of the fundamental parts of watching a sporting event is believing that it’s as fair a competition as possible — and that no one directly involved has money riding on specific outcomes.
My friend and attorney Chad Hatmaker, who has experience in eligibility cases, summed up Sorsby ruling well. “This might be the case that actually generates real reform. That’s absolutely ridiculous. If you have an illness as an employee, you don’t get to break the rules because of it. An alcoholic can’t come to work drunk without getting fired.”
There really aren’t any rules. You just go to court. If it fails, go to court again until a judge says you’re all set.
Want a 7th year?
Sure
Broke rules?
Ahhhh, it’s fine.
There AREN’T any rules.
🚨BREAKING🚨
My sources are telling me that Kansas City Chiefs GM, Brett Veach intends to either trade up, trade down, or stay put with the ninth overall pick. He plans to select an offensive or defensive player in tomorrow’s NFL Draft.

Donald Trump is making major changes that will ban colleges from the Federal Student Loan Program and all federal financial aid if the programs at that college don't pass the earnings test
“They are putting together a new earnings threshold test that says Bachelor degree program graduates have to earn more than the median high school graduate in your state 4 years after graduation.
And when it comes to grad school programs, they have to earn more than bachelor's degree graduates for that same type of field in that state within 4 years after their graduate school program.
If the school program fails this test for 2 years in a row, they will lose access to federal Fi, federal student loans. And if more than 50% of the school's programs fail this test, they lose access to all types of federal financial aid programs.”
Here’s what that really means
Colleges can no longer have programs that do not deliver positive financial outcomes for their graduates
The goal is to stop federal taxpayer subsidies via loans and grants for programs that leave graduates financially worse off or no better than if they had skipped college
This is common sense legislation and a huge win for everyone
The thing fans need to realize - and it’s tough in today’s social media world where everyone’s hunting for a smoking gun - is that Otzelberger and Milan were aligned every step of the way during this process. Nothing caught anyone off guard.
🚨UNI guard Leon Bond has committed to Iowa State🚨
As a junior, the 6-foot-5 guard averaged 11.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game and was on the MVC All-Defensive Team.
Iowa State’s first portal commit of the 2026 cycle.
For those in the American media—and in Iran—who struggle to read the president, here’s a translation into your language of his latest statement:
“Dear IRGC leaders: The United States military just extracted a single American, alive, from inside your territory. Not one American life was lost in the process. Take that as a demonstration. We can concentrate overwhelming firepower anywhere in your country. We can go where we want and do what we want, and there is very little you can do to stop us.
Your one remaining card is your ability to strike civilian infrastructure in the Gulf—countries that once tried to restrain me. That card no longer works. Your terror attacks have turned them from hesitant partners into supporters of your defeat. And I refuse to be deterred by this terror tactic.
If we can pull a pilot off a mountaintop, we can send forces to seize uranium and destroy your underground missile complexes. I am prepared to do all that if I have no choice. But to do it without losing American lives, I must first take down dual-use infrastructure—bridges, power plants, energy grids. That will set your country back decades.
So let’s be clear. Cut a deal on uranium, missiles, and proxies. Stop attacking Gulf states and Israel. Open the Strait to international shipping. If you don’t, we will act with overwhelming force to protect our interests.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
