Many of you are talking about the “space jellyfish” following this morning’s launch from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
More than 6,300 scientific investigations and cargo are on their way to the @Space_Station, as part of SpaceX's 35th commercial resupply services mission for NASA.
A jellyfish happens near sunrise or sunset when the exhaust plume from the rocket becomes brightly illuminated, creating a glowing shape resembling a jellyfish.
Show us where you captured the jellyfish?
A fully and rapidly reusable rocket will fundamentally change how humanity accesses outer space. “The Holy Grail of Rocketry” continues the ongoing Starship series with a look back at the scrappy days of SpaceX engineers proving reuse was possible and takes you onboard a high-seas race to recover a floating Starship
Pleased to share my favorite photo from yesterday morning.
Shot using 3 cameras from a parking lot: this is the Falcon Heavy carrying Roman Space Telescope transiting the sun.
More about how it was captured and a video of the transit 👇
50000 Quaoar is a ringed dwarf planet in the Kuiper belt, beyond Neptune. Its diameter is 1,090 km it contains some methane, crystalline water ice and ammonia hydrate (cryovolcanism?).
Quaoar has a distant ring outside the Roche limit and a moon, Weywot. See it in this HST image
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Wally Funk.
Wally was a pioneer in every sense of the word. In her 20s, she was the first female civilian flight instructor at a U.S. military base. She became the youngest of the Mercury 13, outperforming nearly every test put in front of her, and ultimately, the only one of the thirteen to have ever reached space.
On NS-16, sixty years later, Wally made history as the oldest astronaut at the time and remains the oldest woman to ever fly to space. It was a moment six decades in the making. We were humbled to be part of her journey.
Her story will continue to inspire generations of future explorers.
Fly Wally, Fly. 🚀
With the sun behind the moon and the camera sensitivity cranked up we can see a glow from the sun’s extended atmosphere and the near side of the moon illuminated by earthshine.
That's us! 🌍
The Artemis II crew captured beautiful, high-resolution images of our home planet during their journey to the Moon. As @Astro_Christina put it: "You guys look great."
Apollo 15 Lunar Rover Footage Upscaled and Interpolated to 60 FPS
Incredible upscaled footage from onboard the Apollo 15 Lunar Rover captured by Jim Irwin using the 16mm DAC camera. This footage has been upscaled and Interpolated to 60 FPS and synchronised to the mission audio by Moonpans

We have just proven that we can deflect asteroids.
Ever since @NASA crashed the DART probe into this asteroid's little moon, we've been tracking the result. Now we know its 770-day orbit around the Sun changed by a fraction of a second.
That's enough to defend our Earth. The dinosaurs wish they'd had a space program!

Mission success! Alpha Flight 7 achieved nominal performance and validated key systems ahead of our Block II configuration upgrade. This test flight also delivered a demonstrator payload for @LockheedMartin . Congratulations to the entire Stairway to Seven team! Read more: https://t.co/mz3wUbc8Hi
