On January 12, 2024, UNESCO condemned Israel for killing a "journalist" in Gaza named Muhammad Abu Haweidi.
This week, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organization announced that he was one of their commanders.
The fascination and admiration of some Western/leftist intellectuals for #Kant-literate #Larijani and other Iranian officials educated in the West and/or in Western social sciences reveal two things:
(i) their abject ignorance, or wilful elision, of these officials’ murderous practices, comparable to the most extreme instances of Western colonial violence;
(ii) Their continued, inextricable immersion in the very epistemic Eurocentrism (as they themselves define it) that they critique for a living. For them, the non-Western subject acquires agential significance and epistemic relevance only through interaction with Western knowledge, as a perpetual pupil. In their supposed attempt to decentre the West, they constantly recentre it, thereby prolonging their never-ending navel-gazing.
From @WSJFreeEx via @WSJOpinion: I can’t help but notice that the “Free Palestine” crowd seems to have zero interest in freeing Iran. Maybe it wasn’t about peace and human rights at all, writes @johnondrasik.

“Days before Maryam headed out to the protests, she had told her children - aged seven and 14 – about what was happening in their country. "Sometimes parents go to the protests and don't come back” https://t.co/pYUyWSxbt8
If you claim to support human rights yet can’t bring yourself to show solidarity with those fighting for their liberty in Iran, you’ve revealed yourself. You don’t give a damn about people being oppressed and brutalised so long as it’s being done by the enemies of your enemies.
The worst thing about being an Iranian in Britain…
My latest piece for @spectator
“Yes, I know you want to ‘free Palestine’. But perhaps you should start by wanting to free Iran from the regime financing so much of the tragedy you claim to oppose.”

One of the reasons why I think prompt engineering will fade in importance for most people is that AI is already pretty good at doing prompt engineering for you.
For example, you can get useful prompt guidance from just using this basic prompt in GPT-4. https://t.co/qjgVwf0rXp
Researchers at Stanford put 25 AI agents powered by ChatGPT in a virtual world. Given some starting personas, the agents began to live surprisingly human (simulated) lives. https://t.co/rK7D44VkGb
Breaking News: Iran has abolished its morality police after months of protests set off by the death of Mahsa Amini, a young woman who was arrested over the strict Islamic dress code. https://t.co/eDU6WU5Vcl
It’s been over two months since the death of #MahsaAmini. Over two months of nationwide protests in Iran. Over two months of the regime’s violent crackdown, killing women, men and children who are fighting for freedom. Stand with Iran. Use your voice.
